It was All Souls day, and my original plan was to go to the workplace as usual as if there is no holiday. I even wwnt to my workplace yesterday and it was All Saint's Day. It was tempting because we are told ho have additional 30%pay and I took the bait. Anyway, I don't think I am very productive when I am at home at all since I can never ever empty the laundry basket and do all the chores.
Doing the Unplanned
Anyway, today came and my husband was very generous to take my mum, kids and the laborers to the farm. He left hoem as early as 6 am to fetch the kids he needed to help his father to dry the corn and then called me past 7 am so I could twll my mum and her companions to prepare to go to farm. He also asked me to prepare so I could come but I was thinking of doing the laundry and declined but when he came home, I changed my mind and thought of going so we could gather firewood and we did.
The plan was to gather firewood as aoon as possible as we could go home to do some things then come back to fetch them at 4 pm but as we thought of it, the husband decided to stay in the farm until 2pm so we could bring them all home without further labor and expenses. I was even worried about our lunch because I haven't brought any food; good thing my mum brought plenty of rice in advance.
So the husband went down the hill and fetched the dry mahogany wood my uncle cut last year and I helped him cut it with the saw and had an awful experience with my right arm because I'm not already used to doing it. I'm sure I would feel sore tomorrow.
A Bit of Disturbance
While me and my husband was taking turns in cutting the logs, my sister tried her drone and got everyone busy with it. The husband was confident that he could manage the drone and played with it but it wa too small that it could not resist when there is a wind that comes its way. My daughter was in charge of getting the drone when it fall and I am just glad the batteries died soon and everyone got back to working. But they had fun with it.
They successfully recorded a video using the drone but it was too laggy and didn't work well.
they got discouraged too soon
My mum'sagenda going to the farm was to plant cassava that is why she brought laborers with her but whwn we were in the last intersection flbefore arrival, we came across my cousin who they talked and agreed about plowing the field. My mum was very discouraged but the laborers did something else so they could make use of the day. Good thing my cousin arrived past 10 in the morning and started plowing the field. They started planting cassava too, but I was incharge in the kitchen. I cooked rice and fried some fish then we all ate when the clock hit 12.
fresh coconut water
My uncle's farm has coconut trees and we went to get some after lunch. The trees has grown several meters since we first got there and it was a bit hard to get green coconuts. My husband could not climb the tree but he was clever enough to use long bamboo pole and successfully took 6 green coconuts. The first two we were not able to use; they were too young and broke when it fell to the ground.
My daughter was very excited to drink water too and finished the water of one coconut! I had one too, and it was very tasty and refreshing! The coldness of the coconut water was enough to quench the thirst on a hot day.
bringing the kids to help
Past 1 in the afternoon, the three who planted cassava was left behind the one who plows the field so I decided to help cover the cassava on rhe ground because one has to put the stalks in and someone would cover. Soon, the husband came to help and then we called on the kids to help us. We had to teach them to do some work so it would be easy for thrm when they grow up and I hope they would be responsible and can adjust to any work they had to do.
Czak declined at first but soon did as we requested and enjoyed the work. @eylii was already good at what she was doing, her picture attached is even a screen shot from the video i took of her. Unfortunately, 3speak keeps stopping when I work with it on my phone. Laling helped too but I forgot to take a picture of her in the field because when I took. Eylii's and czak's, she was with my sister helping her with her video recordings.
Soon the rows with stalks run out and I knew I had to help putting on the stalks and only then the laborers knew they could do two rows in one time so they would not have to carry the heavy stalks too far before it runs out.
Soon my sister came to help and with our combined force the work was done faster.
2 pm came and my husband was hurrying us to go home but he felt sorry and decided we finish planting the stalks available at the time. It was already past 3 in the afternoon when the stalks ran out.
When i was in the middle of the field, i took pictures of my husband and son which was at my back and my sister and my cousin which is in front of me.
going home and some wonderful views along the road
The husban took the route thru San miguel this time, a different one from the route we took towards the farm because the tcab was so laoded with people and firewood and th road that way was much better, less bumpy even thyit was a bit farther than the other.
We passed by on a cattle feed lot where we saw lots of cattles resting after being fed, the kids were entertained by them.
A little further, vast open skies were to be seen from the pineapple field and it was very refreshing. It was just 3 on the afternoon and the sky was a bit gloomy.
Along the road we passed by these line of pine trees
A little sooner we arrived home and the boys helped unload the things we brought. Boy, I felt very tired but I promised my daughter that we go to her Nanay's place to see her cousin but only husband's sister was there. So we only stayed for a bit and then walked hoe before the rain came since the husband already left for work. We brought umbrellas anyway and we had fun along the way while munching on snacks.
p
I was very tired and all I wanted was to go to bed early yet the kids were still very energetic so I sent them to write and read and waited for the husband to come home and he did came a little after 8, bringing with him penoy eggs which we cooked and ate.
It was such a very long day for me and tiring too but I usually don't have this kind of Saturdays but I would rather do it again.
