In the cities of today, crowded with skyscrapers and buildings, parks have grown scarce. But this Saturday evening I found myself spending a peaceful and refreshing time in a beautiful park located in Chennai, the Chetpet Eco Park.
My friend and I arrived at the park and bought our tickets, which is 25 INR for adults. For those who visit often, there is also a monthly pass available for nature lovers, offering them a chance to enjoy the park at a discounted rate, making it a thoughtful option for regular visitors.
As soon as we entered, we were greeted by about 5 cats, lounging around. There were cats almost everywhere in the park, adding to its charm, which I absolutely loved. The park is basically built with a beautiful lake in the centre. So, we strolled along the pathway lined with trees and benches surrounding the lake. The sight of birds perched on the trees, flowers floating around was a sight worth remembering.
There is also a cute little bridge across the lake that makes for a great picture spot. A little further from the park area for general public, there is a well-laid jogging track which is only open for the members. It’s a great feature that would attract a lot of fitness and maybe motivate the others begin as well. I mean, who wouldn’t want to start their day with a refreshing walk among the trees?
The park also offers fishing activities to enthusiasts for a small fee. We noticed a few ducks waddling beside the lake, busy chasing their food bowls. After taking a leisurely walk, we reached the area where boating activities are organized. We bought our tickets at a price of 118 INR for both, hopped onto one of these boats and paddled along the still water. The reflection of the sky on the water made it feel like we were in a painting. It was a great experience to be paddling over the water under the serene evening sky.
Just after we were done boating, it began raining. Luckily, we spotted this cute little rooftop café that had decent menu options at reasonable prices. The café had a decent menu with plenty options that reasonably priced. We ordered two coffees, some French fries, and garlic bread. Since the café was on the roof, it had a protective cover over the seating area. So, we were able to sit safe from the rain with our coffees and enjoy the rain around us. The unexpected rain shower made our park experience even more beautiful. There is also an entertainment area adjoining the cafe, that hosts open-mics. As we were just outside the theatre, we could hear the performances. There is also an aquarium in the park, but it was small and we were unimpressed. However, it still might be an interesting place for little kids.
Overall, it was very joyous to spend my Saturday evening at the Chetpet Eco park. The blend of nature and fun activities shared with the right person is a great way to rejuvenate yourself for the next week!
The video is a compilation of clips shot on Insta360 Go 3 and iPhone 15 pro, in case you were wondering about the differences in the clarity between the various scenes. And since I'm very new to vlogging, I did not speak much throughout as I felt a bit out of place doing that. Hopefully, I'll be able to do it the next time around.
