Thank you very much for participating once again to Mizu No Oto haiku contest!
I would like to show you the "mirror" photo to the one of the contest.
It was a photo of the reflection of the Devil's Bridge of Cividale del Friuli in the waters of the Natisone river.
The curious and sinister name derives from the legend that arose around the difficulties of building this bridge, during the fifteenth century: the legend says that the builders asked for help from the Devil himself, who in return demanded the soul of the first creature that would have crossed the bridge.
The Devil built the entire bridge in one night, but the citizens of Cividale managed to save their souls: they made an animal to pass first (a dog or a cat, according to some versions a pig). Thus the Devil had to be satisfied with the animal's soul.
It would be nice if these stories of devils and ghosts could generate an interesting theme for haiku rooted in each one's land!

Me gustaría mostrarles la foto "espejo" de la del concurso.
Era una foto del reflejo del Puente del Diablo de Cividale del Friuli en las aguas del río Natisone.
El curioso y siniestro nombre deriva de la leyenda que surgió en torno a las dificultades de construir este puente, durante el siglo XV: la leyenda dice que los constructores pidieron ayuda al mismísimo Diablo, quien a cambio exigió el alma de la primera criatura que hubiera cruzado el puente.
El Diablo construyó todo el puente en una noche, pero los ciudadanos de Cividale lograron salvar sus almas: hicieron pasar primero a un animal (un perro o un gato, según algunas versiones un cerdo). Por lo tanto, el diablo tuvo que estar satisfecho con el alma del animal.
¡Sería bueno si estas historias de demonios y fantasmas pudieran generar un tema interesante para el haiku arraigado en la tierra de cada uno!

The summer that cools
this leaf litter.
I loved this haiku because the photo only acted as a trigger for an inspiration that went way beyond. How can we not appreciate both the very natural use of a kigo and the oxymoron of summer that cools (but we understand that it is the end of summer)?
Besides, I always like to learn new words in languages that are not mine, this time "hojarasca": the aspirated sound evokes the wind making the dry leaves rustle.
Me encantó este haiku porque la foto solo actuó como un activador de una inspiración que fue mucho más allá. ¿Cómo no apreciar tanto el uso tan natural de un kigo como el oxímoron del verano que refresca (pero entendemos que es el final del verano)?
Además, siempre me gusta aprender nuevas palabras en idiomas que no son míos, esta vez "hojarasca": el sonido aspirado evoca el viento haciendo crujir las hojas secas.

I am very happy that these two talented haiku poets have received the votes of the public, because we could take them as an example of the best of the two linguistic "souls" of this contest: the Hispanic and the Anglo-Saxon. I have to admit that I feel in awe of both @owasco's compositional processes and @josemalavem's great literary culture. I am a haiku enthusiast and self-taught student, but I don't have a specific academic background in this regard. So I suffer from a sort of impostor syndrome and I try to learn from all the participants in my own contest. Funny, isn't it?
Estoy muy feliz de que estos dos talentosos poetas haiku hayan recibido los votos del público, porque podríamos tomarlos como ejemplo de lo mejor de las dos "almas" lingüísticas de este concurso: la hispana y la anglosajona. Debo admitir que me asombran tanto los procesos compositivos de @owasco como la gran cultura literaria de @josemalavem. Soy un entusiasta del haiku y un estudiante autodidacta, pero no tengo una formación académica específica al respecto. Por eso sufro una especie de síndrome del impostor y trato de aprender de todos los participantes en mi propio concurso. Gracioso, ¿no?

Como siempre la amiga @gracielaacevedo nos hace un hermoso recorrido, resaltando el detalle de la construcción de un puente, un puente que une mundos. Es uno de los haikus que me ha gustado más. Hay una limpieza en el haiku de @gabmr yo diría una mejoría en detalles y @mllg nos trae detalles de colores de verdes y azules que no habíamos resaltado. Somos pocos los que estamos pero cada uno toma detalles de sus sensaciones al estar allí parados frente a la imagen.
As always, our friend @gracielaacevedo takes us on a beautiful journey, highlighting the detail of the construction of a bridge, a bridge that unites worlds. It is one of the haikus that I liked the most. There is a cleanliness in the haiku of @gabmr I would say an improvement in details and @mllg brings us details of colors of green and blue that we had not highlighted. There are few of us here yet, but each one takes details of their sensations when standing there in front of the image.
Unfortunately, I could not take into account the votes assigned by Sacra, because the rule is that you can only vote for one haiku, not three. However, this seemed to me the most passionate comment of this edition, the one that tried to express an opinion on several haiku among those participating, and therefore I reward it.
Lamentablemente, no pude tomar en cuenta los votos asignados por Sacra, porque la regla es que solo se puede votar por un haiku, no por tres. Sin embargo, este me pareció el comentario más apasionante de esta edición, el que trató de expresar una opinión sobre varios haiku entre los participantes, y por eso lo recompenso.

Vaya historia me encanto leerla, me fui al internet quería saber más sobre el bendito puente. Destruido en guerras y vuelto a construir, su parte central está anclado a una formación rocosa natural. Y cuenta la leyenda que el diablo al verse burlado trato de destruirlo, pero una gran cruz puesta allí por los moradores lo hizo huir. Estupendo, gracias.
