Happy new year, everyone! To date, this is my first post of 2021, and I honestly regret not being able to write a blog on the 1st of January. (How exciting would I feel writing on the first day of the year.) Nonetheless, I can still share some thoughts that I had as we welcome the new year ahead.
I think it's typical that each of us hopes to become better and achieve new goals this year. Last year was full of surprises; we've hit a global pandemic and lost many lives, experienced several natural disasters that raised awareness more of our environment, and our daily lives affected due to the effects of the pandemic. And although the situation was worse, good things still happened. We had the chance to have quality time with our loved ones as it is a prerequisite to stay at home. All of us had the time to discover new things about ourselves. And I think most of us found what we were searching for all this time.
I have a lot that I am looking forward to, and it includes the Hive blockchain. Although I don't understand everything about it, I wish that the community would become a healthy backbone for Hive. And for that to happen, let us not ignore others and take time to appreciate. I believe engagement is what we need most.
On every other social media platform, it is vital to keep them active. And there is no way that we can't do that here. I'm saying this because I see other blogs getting curated, but no one talks about them. What kind of magic is that?
We're not just bots. We are users. I'm not saying that most of them use bots. However, I think it is preferable to leave someone with an impression. Each of us has the potential to discover new possibilities that may help one another. We are unique individuals that are born different to visualize the future with our perspectives.
Do I sound like a motivational speaker just now? Kidding aside, I think it is what is best for the community. We can't just expect something to become great. We have to work on it.
This year is a new chapter of our lives. It's a new journey to unravel new things that are yet known to us. And with renewed hopes and dreams, let's hope that it would be a fruitful year ahead.
Cheers to a new journey!
Side Story: Yes, you're seeing what you are seeing. Some of the bottles you see above don't have any alcohol content anymore. They were just placed on the bar as decorative since it was new year. Yes, this was arranged to celebrate the coming year 2021!

Happy New Year @imawreader Nice to see you back blogging here and I do enjoy reading your writing. I can see what you mean. I'm also reletively new here, more than 4 months on this platform and still not understand everything but I do enjoy sharing my travel stories, my photos and engage with some minded and fun dudes here. One of them is @galenkp and his weekend topic every Friday. I hope you can come by #weekend-engagement, join us and meet more people there.
Have a good day !!
I checked #weekend-engagement and I joined real quick. But of course, I had to check on @galenkp about what kind of post does he do every Friday. I think he does anything under the sun.
Also, I thought of joining other communities to help me come up with what can I share more. It never crossed my mind before but I realized they could help. (like great help)
Thanks for the recommendation!
Anything under the sun as about right for the #weekend-engagement topics. I hope you'll come past and join in sometime. It's not about the topic, it's about the interaction with others.
Yes, I did join already. 😁
Thanks for the shoutout @trangbaby ❤️

Happy new year, thanks for this reflection, you are right, we must appreciate each Hive user who strives to create content, in addition, we must continue to take care of ourselves to avoid contagion of covid. Prosperity and good health for you in 2021.
Happy new year to you as well! I want to say as well, let's appreciate not only those who create content but also those who give their time to comment and leave an impression of your work. I know on other social media platforms, comments are kind of not a big deal. But I think it is much needed for a social media blogging platform to keep a healthy engaging environment.
Take care and stay safe!
Engagement and curation has gotten better and better. We just need some new users now because this is a community of creators, not just passive readers. We all balance between creation and engagement. Most anyway.
It’s hard to catch everyone but sending some love your way!
It's good to hear from other people that it's getting better. In the past, the #introduceyourself helps new users introduce themselves to the community. I don't know if it's still the case now. I haven't seen anyone used the tag for quite some time now.
Not sure, but in the past sooo many people had a hard time making more than $1 or even 1 Hive per post...now it seems most can make that much if they persist for a few weeks or months, and many make much more than that if they are very active.
Speaking of which, I am one of those people. What I've experienced, it gets disappointing and discouraging to continue putting out effort with so little support you get after doing it for a couple of months already. But I think, that is also because of how the platform was introduced. So many of the people I've seen and come across left when the value of the token (steem) went down.
Yeah, well I mean there are two things about Hive everyone should know
1 it's not always a reliable source of income. But it's a great way to get into crypto and start saving doing stuff you'd like doing anyway. The problem is when people come in trying to make it a job, because it won't be that for most people.
2 Post value isn't always 100% connected to quality but interaction and consistency is way more important, as well as what people think you are bringing to the platform, who you've made friends with, and how involved you are with things.
3 The value of the coin is directly connected to whether people are buying and selling and the success of the platform is entirely on the users shoulders because Hive has no CEO and no company backing it. Of course there are some people more invested than others. I invested as much as I could because I see it changing peoples lives in Venezuela and Nigeria and I want to encourage that, and I've made such awesome friends here.
Basically anyone who comes with low expectations for money and high expectations for community is really satisfied with both the money and the community.
I just sent you a little vote on our community account @crossculture. It's really hard for old users like me who are connected to so many people to catch everyone, but I really hope you stay and find a place for yourself here. You are always welcome at the cross culture community :-)
I was about to say that 'hey, you type so fast!'...but then I get to read the whole. Are you the reason why all of a sudden my notifications have exceeded more than usual?
Lol maybe. Just trying to help 😛
