Hi all, it's @ddrfr33k. I was just talking with @chiren and @devmarvel. We have tried to delay the inevitable as much as possible, but we simply cannot do it any longer. Our billing cycle with our host ends on June 8th, and we intend to cease our operations at that point in time. We are simply not making the money we need to cover our costs. It sucks. You think you have everything figured out and then you turn around and everything looks like this:
No, really. I put in $180USD of my own money last month, and I'm fronting another $200 this month. It's simply not feasible to keep this site running. So, we're going to wind down on Saturday, cease operations, and back up what we had in the event we can rebuild. Those of you who subscribed to Vimm with Paypal, please cancel your subscriptions immediately so they don't auto-renew on us. If you had a premium membership set up to pay with Hive, we will cancel everyone's subscriptions on Saturday. Feel free to change before then if you like. If you have replays on the site, please download them ASAP.
When I joined this site back in 2018, I saw a lot of potential. We had a lot of awesome people streaming, and we overcame a lot of obstacles to make what we made. We showed off at Hive Fest in 2021, I talked about Vimm with @trey50daniel on his podcast, we accomplished a lot in my time. @chiren had great help from @foreveraverage at outset, we wouldn't have the streaming site we do without his help.
In addition, @chiren had this to say:
I just want to thank everyone who has been supporting us for the last 4 years. Especially when we had our issues with AWS. And a special thanks to our friends in heplie caster. They've been here since the steem days and stuck with us till the end.

Unfortunately, this is where we end our little streaming site. I want to personally thank each and every one of you who streamed with us. You're great people, and we'll certainly meet again in the future.

I am very sorry to read this. When Vimm was down I was begging for it to come back soon and promoting the service in my community, as soon as it was reactivated I started to work to promote Vimm and try to bring new streamers, some joined and have been trying it, I was hoping that very soon they would pay subscriptions to keep the platform alive, but I am aware of everything they mention and the operational costs, hopefully there is a way to keep it active, I was very excited about a streaming platform on Hive like VIMM.

Incredibly sad to hear this news! I am astounded that an amazing service like Vimm just didn't get supported by more of the #Hive #community. I understand the issue with the servers took away a majority of the hype/participants surrounding the application and caused a massive drop of returning users once those issues got solved and the service restored.
I wish you and the Vimm team well on your future ventures. Thank you for showing others that streaming on Web3 is possible and can be viable as a place for livestreaming creators.

Sorry to hear this guys. And sorry that such a valuable project never got the support it deserved from this chain. Another example of why Hive never gets to have good things, we don't seem to support our home grown talent.
Appreciate everything you guys did, especially stepping in huge when the dLive debacle took place. You guys were a life saver for many.
And thanks to you Jon for streaming CTP and other content on Vimm.
Oh man, it was such a blast! I loved every second of it.
I would have liked to contribute more than just with my content on the stream. I know you gave it your all, and I take my hat off to you for that. Thank you for everything you've shared. It’s truly sad to see the end of Vimm. The journey had its challenges, but the platform brought together a unique and passionate community. However, is there any possibility of collaborating with 3speak? They seem to have the necessary hardware, and perhaps they could benefit from the experienced team behind Vimm’s livestreaming. This partnership might be a way to leverage strengths and keep the community alive.
