RE: Crianlarich Railway Station

in Train Spotting3 months ago

We stayed in Oban this time. I usually call Mallaig into when I'm catching the boat to Skye and then come back over the bridge at Kyle. All the train journeys on the West Highland line and extension are simply stunning. How the hell they managed to get them built across all that wilderness is mind-blowing. I keep meaning to go further North to see some of the amazing beaches up in the far NW but never quite manage to make it.
As for the junction. Just before you get to the Green Welly at Tyndrum, on the left you'll see a sign for Lower Tyndrum railway station which is the route to Oban and then there's a sign on the right for Tydrum Upper station which is high up over the village. The line can be seen from the back of the Green Welly's car park. I just read that the station building there is rented out as offices by a subsidiary of an Aussie firm called 'Scotgold', it seems they are mining gold in some location in the surrounding mountains. There's gold in them there hills! Get yer pan out!

Gold!! I'm on it! Hehe, the green Welly is a stop we make often on that route!

The scenery all the way up there is amazing. I would like to go up further myself. Malaig is the highest bit I've been.
