Hello everyone, are you all right? hope you guys are fine. Of course, I hope you are well. At the beginning of the year I was very happy, because @livinguktaiwan created a new community about trains. I really like this, because the train is the transportation I use often. Especially when I'm in Jakarta, the train is the transportation that can make it easier for me. In fact, it can save me a lot of time while traveling or going to the office.
In Jakarta, there are actually two categories of trains used as public transportation, namely Commuterline Indonesia (KRL) and Mass Rapid Transit (MRT). I always use these two modes of transportation. Yesterday, I just took the MRT. I went to a football stadium called Gelora Bung Karno (GBK). GBK is one of the places to exercise, there is a baseball field, gym and soccer. What do I do at GBK so that I use the MRT?
Of course I'm working out. the vibe for you to exercise is very high. You will be very excited to work out while you are at GBK. Then, what about the route I use? Before I explain, I want to explain that the MRT is the new public transportation in Jakarta. The new MRT officially became official in 2019. In total, it's only been 3 years since the MRT has been used in Jakarta. The MRT route is only one route. This route is usually referred to as Route 1. This route includes Bundaran HI Station to Lebak Bulus Station.
To get to GBK Stadium, I took the MRT starting from Bundaran HI Station and stopped at Sanayan Station. To reach Senayan Station, I need to pass through six stations, namely Dukuh Atas BNI Station, Setiabudi Astra, Bendungan Hilir, Istora Mandiri and Senayan. Route 1 only has 13 stations. How long will it take to get to GBK Stadium?
If we use the MRT we can save a lot of travel time. Yes, I only spent 15 minutes to get to GBK Stadium from Bundaran HI Station. If I use a motorbike or car, the travel time can reach 45 minutes. I can trim up to 30 minutes of travel. In Jakarta, everything is a matter of time travel. We need a lot of time during the trip. We'll meet traffic jams on the road too. This is stressful.
I have tried almost every MRT station while living in Jakarta. MRT station is very clean. In fact, the use of the MRT is considered as one of the recreations on the weekends. Each station is very clean and spacious. In addition to the boarding room, the office where I work, the station is a place that makes me comfortable. I see modernity in the MRT station.
There is a convenience store at each station. But not too much. Maybe two or three convenience stores at each station. Tickets used are very instant. You can use the online application to pay for MRT tickets. I used the linkaja app to pay for MRT tickets. So, how much do MRT tickets cost?
If you go to Lebak Bulus Station from Bundaran HI Station, you have to pay IDR 14,000. However, because I used the Bundaran HI Station route to Senayan Station, I paid IDR 6,000 for the ticket. Ticket prices actually vary widely. It can start with IDR 3,000 depending on the distance you travel. But, with this ticket price, I feel that using the MRT is very cheap. Moreover, we can save travel time.
I want to tell you about the history of the MRT. In 2019, you could use the MRT for free. Actually, Indonesia has been planning to build MRT for a long time. The MRT development plan is carried out for 25 years. It's been a long time, hasn't it? The initial idea for this transportation was made by President BJ. Habibie in 1986. At that time, BJ Habibie was still the Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology.
However, President Jokowi started its construction in 2014. The MRT construction took five years with a very modern design. For me, MRT can be considered as transportation to solve traffic jams and increase people's mobility. I really feel the benefits of MRT. However, the operation time of this transportation is very short.
Currently, the MRT starts operating at 05.06 AM to 10 PM. If during the weekend, the MRT starts operating at 06.06 AM to 21.30 PM. This policy was implemented because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Even so, this transportation is very useful for me.

Thanks for a great overview of the MRT. Five years to build it was pretty quick, that's impressive, and its great to see that's it's bought to much change to people's lives.
thank you. Currently there are many changes happening in Jakarta. This year, additional MRT lines will be built. and the inauguration of the LRT. I can't wait for it
