A Dark Route

It's so pathetic that I could not differentiate between daydreaming and dreaming when I was still in lower secondary school. I got to understand the meaning when I got to the higher secondary school. My sister happened to be the type who always said at a spot lost in thoughts. She has a spot she always ran to any time she was acting in this act. One day, I had to target her and follow her to where she was always camping unknowingly. When she got to that spot, she looked around to see if anyone was in the surroundings before sitting down comfortably. Meanwhile, she took her literature textbook along maybe to show us that her aim of going to that camping spot was to read. Observing from the position I was in, she was reading her book. I was just trying to wait a bit before moving closer. After a few minutes, she rested her chick on her palm as she was acting just like someone who was regurgitating.

I tiptoed until I got to where she was without her recognizing my presence. She was just stirring in the air for no just course. I tried to show my face to her, but then she was unable to shake her body. The only thing I discovered was that she was just smiling while stirring in the air. I stood just at her front just for her to recognize my present, but all were to no avail. I waved my hands across her eyes, but then she was not seeing me. Not only that, but I tapped her on her shoulder. She was immediately shocked and jumped up. “How did you know I'm here?” He said quietly, but her heart seemed pounding. I told her that I followed her.

I was quick to ask her what she was thinking. She said she was just daydreaming. I did not understand that part of “daydreaming” until she told me the true meaning. I had been taking it for just something else.

She said she was daydreaming of how her future was going to be. We had both gone to ShopRite for shopping, and we saw so many good ideas. She said she was dreaming about what her future business was going to look like. Her face was filled with smiles and she was bold to say what she daydreamed about at that moment.

Two days later, my mom had to take us to a concert. We got there and saw different artists. I saw as far as the ones I have not seen physically except on TV. We sat in the hall as people trooped in. The gall was set for the show to take place. Everyone was waiting for the first artist to come up. The DJ walked up the stage and announced the first person to come up the stage. I was so excited to hear his name. A few minutes later, the artist bounced on the stage and started singing after a brief introduction. I was carried away by her song.

My dream in life was to become an artist (singer). Simi was the lady on the stage, and I had always taken her as my right-hand singer. Other artists sang brilliantly.

When we got home, I was so happy going to the concert alongside my elder sister, the daydreamer.
The next day, I sat quietly on the couch, carried away by what I called thought. I do not know when my mom entered the room and tapped me on the head. I immediately jumped up, just like someone who jumped out of hot water. “I have been calling you for over three minutes without you responding.”.
I said to her, "Mum, I was daydreaming about my future." She was eager to know what I was daydreaming about. “Ever since we went to the concert, my mood towards my future was clear.”.
My mom's response gave me the morale to kick-start my dream. “I can't stop you from becoming whoever or whatever you want to become.”.

It was so pathetic and unfortunate to miss out on what I had called my dream and instead went for something I barely daydreamed about.

Daydreaming is a good thing only if we dont engage in it too much as it makes us feel the same sense of joy from taking actions toward that future we want.

That's sound so good daydreaming about the future quiet interesting but working toward it, is more better than having a daydreaming about the future.

you are right

😂 if it is my mother, she is bringing you back to reality with a good knock.... The African mother style 😄. On a more serious note, if it's any consolation, I just want you to know that as long as there is life and good health, you can always achieve all that you've dreamt about
