Raymond, my boyfriend and I were just about to leave our home for his family event when I began my tantrums. I’ve always wanted to meet his family and now is the best time. His family event seemed like the greatest opportunity.
Raymond!!! I ran downstairs to meet him while he was pouring some water into his car radiator. He looked back and was shocked to see my glaring face. I’m sure he knew I was about to create a scene which he’s practically used to.

Instead of Raymond to explain, he looked at me like I was talking some balderdash, hissed at me and continued with his car. That got me more vexed. My man is used to keeping shut when I’m angry and I always want him to explain everything even though I can be very petty.

I was happy that I wanted to meet my man’s family members but on the other hand, I was angry that he has another girl on his WhatsApp wallpaper. Who could that be? I was only looking for the opportunity to take his phone and search for words like love or kiss so I’ll identify the girl’s contact.
We got dressed up, entered the car and left for the party. All through the ride, I did not make the mistake of saying a word to him.
On getting there, this same lady who’s on his WhatsApp wallpaper was also at the event. What kind of a thing is this? Am I the real girlfriend or she? If possible, I could go meet her in a corner to ask who she was because I’m the jealous kind of girlfriend who doesn’t know how to overlook things.

I just wanted to know who that girl was but angrily, I followed him to his parents as a form of respect. I faked my smile before getting there so my anger won’t be obvious.
Babe, here are my parents, I knelt down immediately to greet his parents just as a proper Yoruba girl would do. His mum rubbed my back while praying for me to be a good wife in his home.
I didn’t care about all her kindness. I was just angry and wanted to know who that fair girl was. I’m sure his mum will know that the other girl is his girlfriend so why is she praying for me and making me feel loved? I soliloquized and if I could take her hands off me at that time, I would.
Debisi, come and meet your brother’s girlfriend, she said. I looked up to glance at that girl again but to my surprise, she was the one coming forward.
I looked at Raymond and he gawked at me. I was wrong. I thought he had another girl aside from me.
She welcomed me into their family and gave me a hug. I felt relieved for the umpteenth time that my man isn’t having an affair with any other lady but I wasn’t calm because I had accused him wrongly before leaving the house so I had to beg him.
You were just talking and saying all you liked. Are you satisfied now and sure that I have pure intentions?, he asked and I nodded my head and smiled.
After all my balderdash and false accusations, I had to beg him despite how proud I was thinking that he was having an extra affair with another lady.
We were a happy couple again and I had a nice time at the family event while they all made me feel special as their son’s wife to be.
Keeping quiet in that regard is not the best, as it can cause a breakup in a relationship. It was a surprise package, and it wouldn't have been easy if you brought out that issue by confronting her.
