An Unlikely Hero--- The Ink Well Community Challenge #47

in The Ink Well3 years ago

On the eve of December 25th, Mr Luke decided to stay back in his shop to do more sales. The festive period was a time to make more sales because people stock their homes with food supplies, provisions and all they need to enjoy the holiday.

He had so many customers that day that he sent a message to his wife to come assist in the shop.

Mr Luke has a family of four. He was blessed with two lovely kids. He has no sales boy, he was alone in his shop until he asked for the wife's assistance.

The wife came with the younger kid. She had left the older one with a neighbor. When customers buy their goods, Mr Luke or his wife would help the customers take the items bought to their cars packed outside, they were very busy. Little did they know that one of them will see the mate no more.

It happened that there was a fire outbreak, I guess there was a very high voltage that caused an explosion, kind of. And then boom, fire started.

They, together with the customers on ground, rushed out of the shop while sympathizers tried to help them to put the fire out.

Just then the wife remembered that their kid was in the inner room sleeping.

She called out to her husband to help their son. Some people warned the man not to.

But he played a hero, an unlikely hero and ran in to get the child. Amidst smoke, he got the child. He stooped low and crawled out of the smoke to drop the child. At the entrance of the door, his wife got the child from him. But upon rising up, his elbow touched a metal, people say it was the door handle. That instant, he was electrocuted and his wife fainted.

He was an unlikely hero for saving his child's life but paid with his, on the eve of December 25th 2021. For Mrs Luke and everyone related to them, it was a bad way to end the year.

I pray God gives the family Mr Luke left behind the fortitude to bear the loss and grant them new reasons for joy this year 2022 and beyond.

Thanks for the visit, I adore you.

Bless him
He had to do the only thing he knew which is to be the protector <33

Haha, he had to save his child even if he didn't know what would come out of it

Wow, this is a sad story, I wished he didn't lose his life, would have been so much better but life happens.

I wish so too but he would have been miserable being alive only to live in regret of not helping the child. Life happens, really

That is true but he could have saved and still survived.

In tjis situation, anything can happen. Saving the life of your child should be the best. He has done the best in saving the life of his child.
Ah...but he shouldn't have died. This is a sad one....

Such is life, he couldn't control the situation,it was a dicey one, he took the risk but list his life just when he almost made it. Really sad

Wow... Sad story. Hope they had insurance at least.

No one knows if he has Insurance and right now the wife would care less. She is still mourning the husband, every other thing would follow later, I guess.

Yeah, I guess. Losing both sides is way worse though

Oh my God! This is so sad. He saved his child´s life but sacrificed his own life. How would Mrs Luke cope with the two children? She will never forget such a day. Her husband was a true hero.

God will help her, he said he is the husband of the widows. It is quite unfortunate really

Greetings, @adoore-eu! The true quality of a hero is to do what people consider proper. The father was a hero because he saved, as was his due, his son.

Yes, that's what fathers do. They protect their children, even if it will cost their lives

Thank you for posting this dramatic story in response to @theinkwell's weekly call, @adoore-eu! .

It is my pleasure to be here to participate. I enjoyed reading from others too. God bless the community and all of us

Good to see you in The Ink Well, @adoore-eu. I'm glad you are joining the challenge.

This story is tragic, but realistic. Parents will do anything to save their children's lives, even if they must lose their own in the process.

It's so good to see you too @jayna. I am glad to be here in the community and I hope to participate more. Thanks for appreciating the story, even the child when he grows up will be grateful for what the deceased father did

Quite and intriguing piece. Weldone.

Thanks for the compliment

wow a tragedy, what an hero that paid the ultimate price

Yes he is, even though he didn't bargain for it

What a sad story..I like your style of writing.

It's a sad story really. Thanks for the compliment

You are highly welcome

Oh my, so sad, you're right we can only pray God consoles her.

Oh... What a bitter sweet ending for our unlikely hero Mr Luke. He rescued his beloved child without thinking of the danger that might become of him. Indeed the most noble of acts by a true hero.

Still, I wish his family well.

That child will forever have his father in his heart. What a story.

Oh my goodness. The things parents do for their children. OOF! This drew me in and punched me in the gut.

So sad he lost his life. Thanks for coming around

I wish he did that and survived too. Unforseen occurrence befalls us all. May God help us not to be in a wrong place at a wrong time
