I love intelligent science fiction. You did not disappoint. This reminded me of Children of Men, but this was less sinister.
It's interesting that in the non-science fiction world, reproduction is one of the freedoms government tries to control. Not just government, but think of all the arranged marriages throughout history. It's all about lineage, and family: reproduction. So, as a fan of science fiction and a student of history who understands the political and social implications of reproduction: I appreciated your story.
