Also, I checked on the lifespan of the cockroach. 3 years at tops, even for the Madagascar roach. As writers, we should keep certain facts straight so the reader can accept our story. If this had been a fantasy, with magical creatures, a long-lived cockroach would be fine. However, your story is largely based in reality, with a healthy dose of imagination.
