I walked into the classroom and the thing I heard was.. "Time is of essence. "
What exactly are they planning without me? I mumbled beneath my breath.
"Hi class.. " I excitedly greeted my classmates but only Teniola seemed to answer alone.
"Hey Veroinca, welcome to school.. Hope you're good? "
"Yes Teniola I'm good.. Aren't you part of the whole plan? " I stylishly chipped in that.
"Oh, the surprise visit to Miss Tacha's house?" She confirmed if that was the plan I was talking about.
"Yeah... But hold on.. What happened to her and why are you guys paying her a surprise visit?"
"Oh Veronica, I forgot you weren't in school yesterday because of your health. Well, we heard her house got burnt accidentally and now she's displaced. We were only trying to donate voluntarily and then visit her with the money we've gathered. You know we need to act fast yeah?" Teniola was a very calm soul and I loved how kindly she explained to me.
"Oh that's so sad.. No wonder I heard Jennifer saying time is of essence. I think I would love to be a part of the plan too.. Should I give Jennifer the money left with me?" I inquired because I didn't know if it was too late already to contribute.
"That's so thoughtful of you.. The many the volunteers, the tangibr the money. Yes please. You can tell Jennifer you want to be a part of the plan.
Before I could walk up to Jennifer. Mr Joe our mathematics teacher walked in.. " Okay class it's time for maths, please settle down!"
I hurriedly rush off to my seat so as to pay attention in class but noticed the class didnt follow suit.
Mr Joe waited for ten minutes extra so that the class could be settled.
Jennifer noticed how patient he was and decided to pay attention until his class was over.
As soon as he left, I walked up to her telling her my plan to support the arrangement.
"Okay, that's nice.. We are leaving as soon as school is over. I heard Miss Tacha is currently at her mom's. So we would head there. " She replied and continued writing her note.
I was so excited I knew about the plan earlier enough to supp the arrangement. Miss Tacha is everyone's favorite because of how calm and collected she is. If there's anything I love about her, is her ability to explain until the topic is clear. It would have hurt me to know about the whole plan afterwards.
As soon as school was over, sixteen of us headed to Miss Tacha's temporary residence.
We even dashed to the closest mall around and bought some necessities like toiletries, beverages, and other items which she might be needing urgently.
When we got to where she was, she was so surprised to see the massive turn out.
"You guys are really amazing. Your visit mean a lot to me. Thank you beautiful souls." She hugged each and everyone of us.
We handed her our gifts and also the cash we had gathered. We said some prayers for her.
The class clown among us cracked some joke which made everyone laughed her lungs out including miss Tacha.
"I've really missed you all my babies. I can't wait to get back to school." Her eyes were filled with hope and gratitude.
We were glad we could come up with something within a short period of time.
"We have to leave now Miss. It's 4pm already before our parents begin to get worried." Jennifer urged everyone to head home.
We hugged miss Tacha one last time and departed from there with high hopes that she will be alright in no time.
The next day, we heard she could get herself a better place to stay with the money we contributed and that left us with so much joy.
"Thank God we acted fast. " The sixteen of us chorused. The next thing we await, is her return to school. Maybe we might organized a welcome back to school party for our favorite teacher because she deserves the best and more.
"Oh yes she does.." Teniola echoed with so much enthusiasm.
