A December To Remember.

in The Ink Well2 days ago (edited)

Stepping out during Christmas is something I have always wanted to do. I’ve been a mummy’s girl for so long and one of my biggest fear is telling my mum that I want to go out. She wouldn’t let me go and if she eventually allows me, she’d call me almost every minute and most times, I feel she is overprotective.

Bisolamih, I heard that there will be so many free concerts to attend this year. Should we try to go? my roommate, Ifeoma asked me but she knows that my mum is never going to allow me go out. During Christmas and evey other festival, I am always needed at home.

I really wish but it’s kinda difficult because you know my mum wouldn’t let me spend my Christmas holiday at school, I said to my roommate feeling very sad that I won’t be able to go for those concerts with my friends.

After two days, I summoned the courage to call my dad and took the permission of spending my Christmas holiday at school. I never told him that I’d be going for overnight concerts though. To my surprise, my dad said yes and even promised to speak to my mum on my behalf.
My mum called me after three hours and I knew, I have been granted that permission. That evening, my friends and I went to Yaba (a popular market for dresses in Lagos). We bought so many dresses for different concerts.

The first night, my friends and I went for the Merrybet concert. Before leaving the house, we always made sure that we eat because street foods are expensive. On getting to the concert, we gained entrace into the hall and to my surprise, we saw D’banj (a renowned Nigerian artiste). He was performing on stage and one time, he took off his shirt and the crowd screamed yeeee.
He was looking so fresh inside and I had to run forward screaming his name, D’banj!!! but he didn’t hear my voice. Instead, he picked another girl and made her dance for him on stage. To be very honest, I was ready to do that.

After his performance, the likes of Burna Boy, Naira Marley and Lyta came to perform on stage too. It was a great event and Ifeoma and I were so lucky that a handsome guy decided to drop us at the front of our hostel which means we don’t have to pay for transport.
That day, my mum called to ask if I got back in time. All she had in her head was that I only went out to somewhere cool to chill with my friends but we were on another kind of cruise.

The second day which was Dec 26, 2019 was my sister’s birthday and Wizkid’s show. I’ve always wanted to see Wizkid but gaining entrance into his concert is hard. Fortunately, I got a guy who reserved a ticket for my friends and I.
As a big fan of Wizkid, Ifeoma and I got there very early because we knew how crowded the concert will be. We got there early then stood at the forefront with the guy who reserved the ticket for us. We stood for over four hours before Wizkid could come up on stage.
When Wizkid came up on stage, the crowd screamed but all I heard was myself.

Starboy!!!, I screamed. If he passes by my front while performing on stage, I scream so loud. I wanted Wizkid to notice me but he didn’t. Then, a guy texted me right there. He saw my status and he was at that concert too.

Would you come to the VIP table,? he sent that through a text message.
I was very happy then showed Ifeoma. We secretly left the standing ticket to the VIP space even though the guy who reserved the ticket started to look for my friends and I. It was a crazy and fun concert. Ifeoma and I got home tired on that day because of how much we screamed.

On the third day, Ifeoma and I were supposed to go to our various homes but we heard about another party.
Maya, our third friend came around to tell us that there is a party happening very soon but it’s for big boys only.
We went to Yaba again to get some crazy dresses.
At 10:00 pm, we headed to the location. On getting to the party, we were given food to eat before they started bringing the alcohol in for us to drink. That night, I successfully unleashed my dancing skills.

I danced a lot that guys began to spray me money. I got home the next morning to count how much I was sprayed in Naira. It was close to fifty dollars. Ifeoma and I screamed after realizing how much money we were sprayed.
That same morning, we packed our luggages and went home. The month December 2019 is a December to remember.
I had the time of my life.
