Mira’s dad gets back from work everyday by 7:00 pm. Immediately he gets back from work, he hangs his long sleeve shirt on the dining chair.
Mira was about eight years old and she knows that’s one of her father’s favorite things to do. So when the little girl hears her father’s car horn honking, she’s always prepared to welcome him and help him take off his long sleeve shirt so that she can hang it on the dining chair just as her father does.
Daddy, I want to act like you today, Mira said to her dad.
Hm, how do you want to act like me? Is there anyway a little girl like you can mimic me? her dad said to her.
Immediately, Mira climbed on of the dining chairs and took off her father’s long sleeve shirt and then hung it on the dining chair. Her father smiled and ever since then, she has always taken off his shirt whenever he gets back from work.
This act continued until Mira became a big girl and gained an admission into the University. That same year, her father celebrated his fiftieth birthday.
Surprise!!!, Mira screamed with her siblings and mother singing out aloud for their father to celebrate his fiftieth birthday.
He is a jolly good fellow, which nobody can deny, they all sang aloud causing other neighbors to know that there is someone right in their house having a birthday celebration.
When it was time to give the celebrant gifts, Mira brought out a hanger.
Dad, I bought you this hanger so that you can stop hanging your clothes on the dining chair. It’s better in the bedroom and that’s why I’d be hanging this in your bedroom, Mira said to her father.
This time, the golden jubilee birthday celebrant burst into tears. He was surprised to see his family members turn up for him. Also, he was so happy and emotional about his children buying him gifts.
Two years rolled by and Mira was lucky to win a visa lottery to Canada. Right there, she worked for five good years while she was as well having her masters education.
Every month, Mira makes sure that she sends some money to her family members at home.
What’s your biggest dream, dad?, Mira asked.
I’ve always wanted to live in a duplex and even though I may not be able to afford it, I know you kids will help me achieve that dream, her father answered.
This was years back when Mira was still in Nigeria before she left for Canada and because of this, she works her ass off everyday in Canada so that she can send home some money and she will build her father’s dream house.
And everyday Mira wants to take a rest, she remembers her father’s dream and just worked harder.
Finally, the duplex was ready. Her father was the one who monitored the building process and when it got finally ready, Mira flew down to Nigeria for the house warming ceremony.
Mira!!! You never told me you were coming home, her dad said surprisingly.
Yes dad. I came to celebrate this greatness and prove that I did what you have always wanted, Mira said while she hugged her father and siblings.
After the emotional moment she spent with her family, she went inside to inspect the duplex and to check her father’s bedroom in particular.
He loves to hang clothes so having a good hanger space is what Mira was keen about while having a conversation with the house contractors and they got it done.
They had a nice celebration time and after a week, Mira’s dad got back to work but Mira still had three more months to spend in Nigeria.
The first three days when Mira’s dad got back from work, he got into his bedroom before taking off the long sleeve shirts he usually wear.
On the fourth day, Mira’s dad got home, pulled off his long sleeve shirt and hung it on the dining table.
Really? I made a big hanger space for you to hang your shirts whenever you get back from work but my dad is never going to change, Mira said so while laughing out loud with her siblings and mock while trying to mock their dad.
Old habits die hard, thier father said and they all burst into laughter.
Since that day, Mira’s dad has resumed hanging his long sleeve shirts on the dining chair.
Even though they all tried to correct him, he did that over and over again.
Thank you very much
It's true, Miras, those habits are not lost. Have a happy day.
Lol, it happens. I wouldn't blame the man😅
Hehe
My dad does it too
You see it's true that habits don't die, they become habit.
They never die
They keep getting stronger all day
😂
The old man can't change. They should just allow him hang his clothes anywhere. Old habits really die hard 😆
Hehe
They can never change the old man ooh😅
