The Family's Deal

in The Ink Well3 years ago (edited)

Its been one amazing time in my life that I can't stop reminiscing about the moment when we were still together before time caught up with us.
We encompasses my siblings and parents, there's been no better time where love was at its peak.
Definitely, there were times that weren't so good but those times made the bond among us stronger.

My brother is one who made the best out of me because he was older and had the experience I needed when I got to his age, with the love in my heart, he made me who I am standing at this point.
Time flies with our knowledge but without our consciousness because we engaged with doing what's best.

Maturity has taken that time from us because everyone has gotten to the point to take care of themselves, three of my sisters are married living in the same region while I'm in a different region and find it difficult to meet with the family because I'm trying to be a man of my own.
Hahaha, I have no idea how to put it other than how it's been written, man of my own, it's actually not easy as I thought when the family were together.

Mom and Pop showed what love really meant, seeing the two of them at such an age and still fond of themselves, they are actually the stars of the house because they were paragons to emulate.
Not perfect because there were moments when their flaws couldn't be hidden but those moments taught us to be willing to overlook the traits of one another.

Let's get going, Pop said one morning immediately after prayer.
Mom replied, not this early, I need to complete cooking this meal.

We all just stared at each other because we had no idea what's was going on.
My siblings and I went to our rooms to talk about what pop just said but no one knew what he spoke of.
This is the first time, no one would have a clue about pop's plan and mum wasn't giving in.
The aroma just filled the air that I dashed into the bathroom to shower just to have a bite of what was cooking, there was just one place my head was, in the pot really.

Rushing out of the bathroom, there my brother was with an empty plate, at a moment, my heart sunk into my chest, my nose still had a heavy aroma in the room and there my food was staring me in the face, "come eat me."
Mum is the best cook I know but she definitely love chewable bones in her soup.
I rushed my food because I could hear a horn blaring non-stop, definitely that was pop, we all thought it was a joke for the fact that it would be the first time going out as a family without a plan.
The air was so tensed that everyone wanted to know where we were headed but apparently, no one knew because pop and mum had done a good job from keeping it from us.
Mum was really tough today, not falling for my charms as she didn't yield to disclose our destination, maybe my charms aren't working anymore, I've lost my touch.

Getting outside, pop and mom uniformly shouted surprise.
The was a black SUV with tinted glass parked in the compound, there's was an unquestionable smile on everyone's faces.
No one had a thing to say again but ready to see where we were headed.
Apparently, the plans were already in motion.

Turning on the ignition, pop kissed mom.
Let's get going, sis yelled from behind.
Lydia hated suspense, it always had an effect on her because she always easily had her hopes high and at this point her hopes ought to be higher because she wasn't the only one with high hopes.

At this point, we were proud of what they had achieved, there was an awkward silence definitely not from the two lovers in the front seat, they talked through out the journey.
Many at times we are caught be surprises but this is one of the deal breaker I had.

There it was, the marina, is this what I think it is? I said out loud.
Pop replied, it is what you think.

There she is, VALENTINE, the beautiful boat's name.
Recalling immediately that it's Valentine's day, I turned to my siblings who were ready to jump onboard.
It's gonna be epic.

There was already a big round table set up.
We all sat as pop drove away and stopped in the middle of the before joining us on the table and told is how special we were to him and mom.
It was a day to hold dearly at heart.
If I was to guess how that day would turn out, I would have failed guessing a million times.

Thanks for visiting my blog, till next time.

I liked your story, it reminded me of my parents' surprises when I was a boy.

You did a great job telling this memory. I could picture everything in my head. Nice story!

Thanks, I really impressed that I wrote it well, I never imagined for a moment.

I'm so glad you did picture it.

Very lovely memory. From the sound of it, I'd guess that day turned out real great, if nothing it is for the beautiful memory it created.

Yes, that's very true, recall its a fiction so I really wish it was true.
Mixed up one memory to how I imagined some future expectations.

Lovely and cozy vignette, we feel the warmth and loving atmosphere with that family, those special childhood memories have their impact on the rest of our adult lives.

Thank you for sharing that story with The Ink Well, we appreciate your engagement in the community by commenting on fellow writers' posts.

Yeah, childhood memories take up a whole lot of our lives, hopefully my kids would get to experience series of memories with the family.

Thanks for your continuous comment, you have a way of summarizing it up.
