Set my record straight, I'll be through
The war fought for glory
The killing meant to protect
And so, I met my doom.

The faces of glory is mine
Shine brighter in this wildlife
The envy was sublime
Mates starts to hate my fight
Jealous, bitter, they dug for me.

Reward, won't there be reward
To the gallant one
The bright stars of war
Protecting there nation with there blood
Making the masses safe.

So they came now to dig
Bade farewell to me
The bright star is going deep
Never again to shine, now six feet dim.

I wrote this poem in honour of the first female combat pilot in the Nigerian air Force who died some days ago. The death has shocked the nation. She was a bright star,
a beacon for the female gender.
