Sometimes human beings can focus more on building a house than building a family, and the material becomes more of a priority than the things that really matter.
It is good that Oliver was able to find in Dahlia that opportunity to be happy and do things the way he did not do them before. I can imagine Olivers shock that he forgot he was an atheist an thanked God that it was not Dahlia who had the accident.
