On this fateful day, I was sitting on one of the hospital benches, meditating on a lot of things running through my mind. I have been in the hospital for more than 4 hours and at that particular time, my patience was running out.
I begin to say to myself. "When will Nigerian hospital improves. You will come here sick, and you will be delayed for hours before they attend to you". Those were the words I was speaking to myself.
There was this woman just right beside me. She noticed my frustration and heard when I was muttering to myself. She responded. "My son, that is how we see Nigeria oo, we should just hope the government should make a change."
Resting my back on the wall behind the bench, still frustrated that the doctor had not responded to me. Every of my body was getting weak as the hour passed by. I was experiencing several headaches and stomach aches. At that particular time, what can cure my pain is to see the doctor.
Suddenly, the door of the consultation opened. A young, vibrant nurse, a female, came out and made a call out. "Next person please!!"
Instantly I jump up. I knew I was the next one according to the queue and number given. "I am the one!!!"
Entering the consultation room, I met the doctor. A man around his 40s. He was busy writing something in a file, so he could barely see me as I entered the room. Suddenly, as I moved close to him, he noticed my presence.
"Alright sir, what is the issue you have?" The doctor asked me that question.
"Doctor, I am having serious pain in my stomach, I am thinking I have been poisoned". I responded to his question pouring out my supposed assumption.
"You think? Are you sure, or let me ask, what made you think so?". The doctor once again asked.
"Yes, doctor, one of the reasons that made me think that way was yesterday night, I ate some suya I bought at the roadside.". I responded.
"Since that yesterday, I have been experiencing a massive discomfort in my body system most especially in the aspect of stomach ache." I once again affirm the reason for my assumption for the doctor.
"Hmm, alright. What you will do now is drink a lot of water and make sure from now on you avoid any peppery food. Ok?" The doctor said.
I was shocked and curious whether there would be any additional details or tests the doctor would recommend to me. In my curiosity, I was forced to ask. "Doctor, is that all? Are you not going to make a test or properly any further questions."
Trying to still express my concern for the short consultation he gave me. The doctor immediately made the call. "Next Patient please!" He made a sign for me to leave the consultation room.
Stepping outside with so much anger. I looked at the list of prescriptions given to me by the hospital chemist, which is Flagyl and Buscopan.
Standing there in total disappointment of what I expected virus what I got, the woman sitting beside me earlier commented. "The doctor did not even care about you.
"Well, the doctor gave me something", I responded in a quiet voice.
As I walked out of the hospital towards the gate. I begin to think about what the woman said. Probably, the doctor didn't even care; all he just wanted to do was his job. But well, for now, I will follow what the doctor prescribed for me. I will use the drug, drink lots of water and stop raking suya. Hopefully, there will be positive changes ahead. At least, that is what the Doctor Ordered for me.

Cool stuff.
Water is one gift from God that we overlook a lot. I drink a lot of water, and it helps me a lot, too.
