It was already looking as if Jide was waiting for his mom to leave the house to jump into the activities he had planned with his friends. As soon as Jide's mom drove off the street, Jide looked at his friends. "Guys, let's kickstart"
Wale and Tope were his friends. Of course, both of them have been waiting for so long for his mother to leave the house. They have planned it with Jide because they know that every Sunday, his mom will need to attend their church women's meeting in the evening, and as usual, she will give a strict warning for Jide to look after the house, which Jide will not adhere to, of course.
Jide's Mother has this constant rule that was established in her house. Football is not permitted to be played in her house. But even though she has made that rule clear to Jide, on several occasions, Jide and his friends always break the rule.
That fateful day, as soon as his mother left the house, Jide rushed to pick up the ball under the couch. The aim is clear, football is about to be played in the house with his friends Wale and Tope.
Jide's Mother's Living Room is actually wide for a small football field. The dining pillars are always used as the Goalposts by the boys, and the couch or the sitting chairs are always cleared for more space.
As Jide and his enjoyed themselves playing football, Wale was attempting a goal when the ball hit his mom's glass vase. The glass vase shattered into pieces as the force of the ball was irresistible for the glass vase not to break. At that particular moment, they knew they were in very big trouble.
Wale was shocked. "Guys, we are in deep trouble"
Jide was also shocked. That glass vase was a gift to his mom a few weeks ago from one of her childhood friends in Canada. Jide knew if her mother found out, he would be in very big trouble.
Tope asked his friends. "Guys, what are we going to do oo"
Jide came up with a plan. "How about we should gum it together. I mean using glue?"
Wale knows fully well that the plan will not go well. "Jide, that is not a nice idea, she will notice"
But at that particular time, what Jide was after was not whether a plan worked out or not; he wanted to be free from trouble.
Instantly Jide ignored what Wale was saying and rushed to the kitchen to get the super glue there. They try to pick up all the pieces together in a bid to restore them back to one great shape with the aid of the super glue.
After completing the work. To an extent, the glass vase looks pretty good.
Tope voiced his concern. "Jide, I just pray your mom will not notice this."
Instantly, they hear a knock on the door.
Jide rushed to the window to check. Boom! It seems His mom is back.
They were shocked. His mother was supposed not to be back that soon.
Instantly, Tope picked up a broom and rushed to sweep the remaining pieces of the glass vases on the ground.
Opening the door, they discovered it was their neighbour.
Trying to look at what was happening inside, the neighbour asked Jide. "Hope everything is fine?"
"Yes ma, everything is fine". Jide responded anxiously.
She was still trying to look through the house to see what might be wrong because the neighbour was able to notice the facial expressions on the faces of his friends. Something must be wrong. Instantly, she looked at the glass vase.
"Ah, Jide, what is wrong with that Glass Vase over there?". She pointed to the direction where Wale placed the glued glass vase.
"Nothing ma. I don't think anything is wrong with that glass vase" Jide responded with a bit of confidence in a bid to cover up any traces of what might be wrong.
The neighbour left but knowing fully well something must be wrong.
Immediately she left, Jide and his friends were at least feeling relieved that nothing was suspected. Instantly they begin to hear some sound. Checking through the living room, it was the glass vase. The glued glass vase begins to make some crack and within seconds, it collapses and is shattered into pieces again.
Jide begins to cry because he knows there is no way he can escape the trouble he has put himself into. One thing was just running through his mind at that particular time: When the cat’s away, the mice will play. But when the cat comes back… the mice are finished.
Regrettable that Jide and his friends couldn't solve the problem, but they must face the consequences. Great story.
They were not able to oo
They need to pay for their action

Big trouble for Jide and his friends. The must face the consequences of their actions.
It was really a big trouble but they have no choice but to face the consequences
This is why it is good to listen to one’s mother
I’m happy that Jide is in trouble and that will serve as a lesson to him
I am telling you. It is always good to listen to the counsel of our mothers
So Jide had turned the house into a football pitch just because the mum had gone out.
There's no way her mum wouldn't notice the glass. That's a big trouble for Jide.
