Susan, my close female cousin, was about to get married, and every member of the family's hands were on deck to see to the success of this wedding. We have all gathered to plan the traditional wedding together.
We had a WhatsApp group that we created to communicate with everybody and to be able to know the things that are not in place. Almost close to the date, we decided to meet cause there were things that we had not come to an agreement on because of Aunty Kachi and Susan's mother.

All of the young people in the family have decided that when the mothers are at it. No matter who is wrong we will not support them until everywhere is calm, then we can talk to them. We all gathered in my house one evening cause we had the biggest living room, so it was agreed we use my house for the meeting.
"Welcome, everyone; I called this meeting here so we can know how far we have gone in Susan's wedding preparation, "Susan's daddy Mr Gabriel said,
He continued, "Susan I hope you have the list with you and Queen you will brief us after Susan has mentioned the things in the list, over to you Susan"
"Thank you, Dad; almost everything here is bought, but Mom and Aunt Kachi have refused to agree on who will cook, and Brother Ibitamuno hasn't briefed me on the canopy and chair with the DJ. Time is almost running out," Susan said
"Okay, please, my darling wife and my dear sister, what is the bone of contention here," Mr. Gabriel asked.
Before Susan's mother will respond, Aunty Kachi has started speaking, and she just hiss.
"I told her, let's cook rice and egusi soup for people that are coming and do African salad and palm for our in-laws. She refused, okay, what is your idea, she suggested some Riverlines food, and it's the food I can cook. She is saying that Queen should do the cooking, for what reason?". Aunty kachi barked
Everybody turned and looked at me, aunty kachi was a troublesome person, and everybody tried to avoid her. I was about to speak up when Susan's mom did.
"What's wrong with my suggestion? The other day, she tried to make ordinary water leaf and pumpkin leaf soup, and it was a disaster; she tried water leaf and ukazi; it was almost a disaster if not for Queen's quick intervention. So let the person that knows the food prepare it. She can do African salad, I am not stopping her, but No, she wants to do everything." Susan's mother Mrs ibifuro says in anger
Susan's father, Mr. Gabriel, finally made a decision, "Kachi, you go ahead and make the African salad and order the fresh palm wine, and my wife, you make the jello rice, and Queen will make the soups for the occasion. Case close. Let's move to the next agenda."
Aunty Kachi had something to say, but the face of everybody made her swallow it and just murmur to herself. We continue with the arrangements. However, on the morning of the traditional wedding, Susan received a call from her makeup artist, informing her that she wouldn't be able to make it in time for the marriage ceremony.

Susan quickly scrambled to find a replacement immediately, but this led to a new problem: the replacement makeup artist was more expensive, and Susan wasn't up for such dying minutes expenses.
As we were trying to find a cheaper but better make-up artist, canopies were set, only for us to discover that brother Ibitamuno forgot to order chairs, tables, and decorations for the occasion; he only ordered decorations for the bride and groom sit, he use the remaining money to order palm wine and forgot to inform the DJ to be on his way.
To make matters worse, Aunt Kachi went to prepare breadfruit instead of the proposed African salad. What she made won't even reach thirty people, and enough money was given to her that even if she changed her mind, it would still be more than enough. Susan broke down crying; what kind of problem is this. It never rains problems, but today it pours.
Feeling overwhelmed, Susan called me for advice as we were close. I was equally confused by the unnecessary loopholes that were springing up. I just took a minute and calmed myself down to assess the situation. I realized that each problem was interconnected and that solving one issue would have a ripple effect on the others.
With clarity and focus, Susan, me, and one of my cousin tackled each challenge methodically. Susan negotiated with the makeup artist, and I put a call across to another vendor for chairs, tables, and decorations. I called the DJ to start coming and said that the wedding was in 1 hour. My other cousins rallied around and bought more breadfruit to add to what Aunty Kachi had made.
Thanks to our quick thinking, Swift contribution, and actions the traditional marriage ceremony was a huge success.
