I have always complained about not having experienced surprises before. Nobody has surprised me at all in my life. How I wish someone would just do it for me. I will always tell my friends not like I was expecting anything from them, but that was my innermost wish.
Each time l see any of our coursemates being celebrated by her boyfriend or friends. I will just be smiling like am the one, and at times, I will be thinking out loud when this kind thing go reach person self abi I no fine or I no reach. My friends will say you are very beautiful and you reach.
Amanda and chinaza will tell me, calm down. Life is turned by turn, I will say abeg make that my turn come quick. We will all laugh over it. We do give each other little surprises; one of us will just cook to surprise us, especially when we don't have food at home before going to class, and everybody will be wondering what we will eat at home. It was fun.
So we were three then in a self-con room: me, chinaza, and Amanda; although we knew each other birthday, we had never celebrated ourselves together or even planned a surprise package for each other.
We will always wish each other a happy birthday that day with text messages alone.
On my birthday, I received a surprise package, I was wondering who sent me this gift cause there was no name on it. So I just kept it on the side, although I was suspecting my friends but that wasn't all that was to come.
I was told that my boyfriend had an accident in the evening of that day. That is how I tried to run out of the house but my friends held me back and asked me to at least dress well.
And that they will follow me to the hospital if need be, that's how I change my dress to knickers and polo. But my friends were well dressed. I didn't suspect anything because they had finished dressing and they were going out before the call came in.
So we all rushed down to the so-called hospital; when we got there, I didn't even bother to look at the hospital name or even to know if truly that place was a hospital at all.
It was when I ran in and saw that it wasn't a hospital but a hotel. I turn to my friends; I taught you guys to know the hospital; why are we in the hotel?
They said that he said we should come here, that it was not that serious, and that he was receiving his treatment upstairs.
As they told me the room number, I rushed upstairs to be sure it was not serious because he hardly took anything seriously in his life. Even if he's sick and to take medication, he will be like don't worry, it will stop. So that is why I was panicking when I heard he was in the hotel instead of a hospital.
As soon as I opened the door, everywhere was dark. Before I turned on my phone light to see why everywhere was dark, someone on the switch and voices echoed at the same time, SURPRISE! I was shocked and speechless, and my friends started laughing at me before someone started singing Happy Birthday to you, I was shedding tears of joy; JOY for the surprise and joy that nothing happened to him, and it was just to surprise me.
I turn to my friends; you guys are in on it; it's all right. Amanda was shedding tears of joy more than myself. She said you are one lucky brat. I do wonder why she calls me a brat always not that she is my senior but every time brat.
I was looking at myself after the whole surprise package; wait, why I'm mine dressed in knickers and polo? Why everyone is dressed to kill?
That was when he gave me a gown and shoes and then asked his sister to do my makeup. I was the happiest person that day because my joy knows no bounds.
It was as if am dreaming and I shouldn't wake up at all. Who would want to wake up from a sweet dream like that? Fortunately, it wasn't a dream at all; it was reality.
The feeling of being loved and cherished brings unending joy. Even after the party, sometimes whenever I remember the happiness in my heart that day is unforgettable.
As for my gift that I left in the house, that was my boyfriend that sent it and it was a handbag and tablet

I'm just glad you've experienced the whole surprise thing, I just loved that feeling it comes with, the feeling of joy.
It was a surprise never before received, the girl who had never been surprised was greatly surprised. It was very distressing and at the end with the joy of a great celebration.
