Anna and the Mysterious Old Man's Staircase

in The Ink Well2 years ago

There was a grand old mansion perched atop a hill, overlooking the quaint village below. Its walls were made of red bricks, and the roof was made of slate. It was a sight to behold. The mansion had been in the possession of the Sanchez family for generations, and they had taken great pride in its upkeep. The mansion was grand, but it had one peculiar feature: a winding staircase that seemed to go on forever.

The Sanchez family had always been proud of the staircase, as it had been passed down to them from their ancestors. It was made of the finest wood, and it had been crafted by the most skilled craftsmen. The staircase had been the talk of the town for generations, and people came from far and wide just to see it.

It was featured in various international magazines because of its exquisite and world-class design that hadn't been seen in many generations. The golden, white color dazzling with the sunlight's reflection, and out of this world's traditional pattern amazed whoever saw it.

However, the staircase was the cause of much trouble for the Sanchez family. The winding staircase had a tendency to move on its own, and people would often get lost in it. No matter how often the family tried to fix it, the staircase would always move on its own. It was a source of great frustration for the family, and they had grown tired of it.

One day, the youngest member of the Sanchez family, Anna, was playing in the mansion when she accidentally kicked a ball down the stairs. As she ran down the stairs to retrieve it, the staircase started to move. Emily tried to run up the stairs, but they kept moving, and she soon found herself lost in the winding staircase.

"Help! Help! I'm lost!" she screamed, but her cries went unanswered. Anna was scared, and she didn't know what to do. She started to climb up the stairs, hoping to find her way out, but the staircase just kept moving. After what felt like an eternity, Anna stumbled upon a door. She opened it and found herself in a room she had never seen before.

There was an old man sitting in the golden room filled with antiques and design maps, and he looked up when Anna entered. "What are you doing here?" he asked.

"I got lost in the staircase," Anna replied, tears streaming down her face.

The old man smiled. "Ah, I see. You must be Sanchez. Your family has always had trouble with that staircase. "I'm the one who made it."

Anna was shocked. "You made the staircase?"

"Yes, I did and I know how to fix it. But I need your help," the old man said.

"What can I do?" Emily asked.

"You need to climb to the top of the staircase and find the lever. "Once you find it, pull it, and the staircase will stop moving," the old man explained.

Anna was scared, but she knew she had to do it. She climbed up the winding staircase, her heart pounding in her chest, and heavy sighs released every second. As she reached the top, she saw the golden lever shining with the lights coming from the moon. She pulled it with all her might, and the staircase came to a stop.

"I did it! I did it!" Anna jumped at her unbelievable achievement.

The Sanchez family was overjoyed when they heard the news. The staircase had finally been fixed, and they could use it without fear. They went to thank the old man, but he was nowhere to be found. They searched the mansion, but he had vanished like a bubble.

"Th-the staircase was fixed? Are you kidding me?" grandmother, Lolita, couldn’t believe it.

"Yes, madam Lolita. Anna and the mysterious old man who instructed her did it," the maid replied.

Years went by, and the Sanchez family never forgot the old man who had fixed their staircase. They often talked about him and wondered where he had gone. One day, as they were cleaning out the mansion, they found a letter from the old man.

In it, he explained that he was a magical craftsman who had crafted the staircase with a mind of its own. He had come back to fix it, but he had to disappear as he could not stay in the mortal world for too long. The Sanchez family was saddened by the news, but they were also grateful for the old man's help, which fixed their terrible problem.

Nice story 👍.
Anna became the saviour of the home via the help of the old man.
Just like what we see in movies, nobody on earth could have been able to know the solution of the staircase's problem,,,no matter how hard they research

Yes, thanks so much for this feedback, @kingsleyy.
Yeah, I was having difficulty making the right plot for this but thankfully, I made it.

i really admire how you can write fictional stories like this. salutation! !PIZZA

Aww, although it was hard sometimes to come up with good and fresh ideas.
Yet, I think that's the challenge here, isn't it? Even in making digital art like you are doing, it needs to be something with a new taste.
Thanks, kuya Mebs!

Oh my gosh! I like that you have already a first thought about the story and turned out it was not what you think. Hihi. It's really good to have a warm feedback like this. :)

Interesting idea, a moving staircase—reminiscent of the white, marble staircase in the Harry Potter movies’. Nicely resolved when Anna finds the golden lever. Thanks for sharing your story with us on The Ink Well.

Living with mortal? Hmmm...he even tried to have made the staircase.

wow, I loved reading this story. I could visualize it.
