I was meant to go for a job interview along with my friend, Paul.
We had searched for work for nearly three weeks but couldn't find any, when we had finally given up we stumbled across a vacancy post in one supermarket we went inside, submitted the required documents and was told to come the following
week for an interview.

Though we were given a particular time to come for the interview, but i
wanted to go there an hour before the appointed time just to be on a safe side. I prefer going to any important event, occasion or appointment before the given time to avoid showing up late or when the event is over due to traffic or
some other problem.

Paul tried to discourage me when i told him my plan....

“ Guy, he said we should come by 9:30 sharp and you want to go by 8, what's wrong with you ?? Na you go open shop for them ???.

I tried to persuade him into coming with me but he blunty refused. So on the appointed day, i prepared and left before 7:30 in the morning. When i got there, the shop was closed even the neighboring shops were closed, i sat down on a big stone waiting for their arrival. Few minutes later, the sales boys
came and opened the shop, they ushered me inside and we chatted a little before their boss arrived.

“ You come early o ”, one of the sales boy, Uche said to me. That means you really want this job ”.

“ Yes o , I have been looking for work a long time now”, i replied.

“ Don't worry, we will convince the boss to accept you”. The second sales boy added.

I called my friend immediately to let him know that their boss came very early today. I was interviewed by the man, the interview didn't last for 5 mins and i was offered the job to start immediately. The man told me that on seeing my friend and i the other day, he thought we were not serious about working or even looking for a job. But seeing me here by this time shows am ready and eager to work. He commended my punctuality and explained my duties to me.

After i started work, Paul arrived sweating and almost out of breath.

“ Guy, how far na, let's go for the interview”, Paul said to me wiping away the sweat from his face.

“ Interview has finished o, i got the job, go and meet the boss inside
maybe he might consider you”.

He went inside and spoke with the boss, after some minutes he came out with a look of disappointment.

“ What did he say ?? I asked him.

“ He said he doesn't need another sales boy ”.

“ If you came early maybe you would have gotten the job and not me, go back home and rest then plan your next step ok ?”.

Paul left and i continued my work with excitement.

The End.

Punctuality has it's rewarded. Many of use African time, with the view that it's everyone that likes using African time. I personally do not like lateness and punctuality has been what I like. It's your punctuality that earned you a reward.

But you sef ehnn, why will you leave home before 7:30am. na lagos the place dey. Lol
That was very early tho and if you had waited you might have gotten for you and your friend and another thing is that i like people that are punctual

The early bird catches the worm ; )
