Alberto's worrying habit of collecting artifacts almost destroyed his life. He began with collecting simple things like colourful stones, rocks and some nature like objects when he was little. He was attracted to the designs, colours and history of these arts. His obsession for collecting figurines especially objets d'art ". His obsession grew with him to adulthood, he collected the arts from auctions, art galleries and exhibitions, though the arts were expensive but he was able to
afford them through selling most of his late father's properties and valuables.
He had a childhood friend Ben who also had interest in collecting objets d'art" but he wasn't obsessed with it, he was just fascinated by anything art . They both had a room where they kept the artworks. Both were married with children, Ben had a huge furniture business that was doing well, his wife had a bakery and they lived a happy life with their three kids.
One morning Ben came to his house to show him the latest art he collected..
“ it's a stone carved out of the golden rock, it is said to bring good
fortune to whomever weilds it well”, Ben said grinning showing his complete set of teeth.
“ How did you acquire it ?? It must have been quite expensive. Who in his right mind will sell a stone known to bring good fortune? Alberto asked .
“ Look my friend this is the last art am purchasing, I'd i continue spending millions buying it my business is going to flop. I'll store my collectibles and focus on my family, you should do the same too”. Ben advised him.
But he didn't listen, he made further inquires about where the stone was obtained and made plans to go acquire it and add to his own collection. The precious stone was rare and the only place to find it was in an ancient town in a big country very far away from where he was residing with his family.

Alberto was more than determined to get that stone so he sold the last
property his father had and sold some of his stuffs and even went as far as asking his mother for her expensive jewelries.
“ Mom you don't understand”, this is a good fortune stone, it brings good luck to the owner i need to get this mom, please give me some of your jewelries”, he pleaded and went down on his knees.
“ You should be ashamed of yourself, selling off your father's properties just for some petty stone. Because you're the only child your late father and i tried to raise you properly, your obsession will tear up your family if you're not careful, am sure your father will be disappointed at what your obsession has turned you into”, she said almost tearing up.
Patrick zold more of his belongings and left his wife and four year old son for his quest amid pleas and
disapprovement from his family to a strange land just to get a stone.
He left home for nearly four years and returned back in the fifth year. He communicated with his family poorly and didn't send them any dime for their upkeep. He came back wretched and tattered just like a man who had just been
released from prison. He came back fulfilled, he had gotten the stone after spending everything he had.
The day he came back nobody was excited to see him only his son who had grown taller and bigger.
His wife didn't speak to him for several days, he felt guilty, her silence was killing him so he decided to ask her why she was upset and he got a question
for an answer.
“ How could you leave me here all alone with our son without caring to know how we will survive ?? My salary is barely enough to run this house and you know it...... She poured her heart to him and ended up crying and lamenting bitterly. While she was talking and lamenting Patrick didn't say a word, he bowed his head unable to look his wife in the face.
She paused suddenly and wiped her eyes before speaking...
“ Don't make me regret ever marrying you. You have to sell off those things you've collected so we can start up a business and grow this family, it's either you sell it and support your family or forget about this marriage and I'll walk away with my son, I need an answer
before this week runs out ”, she said and stormed out.
Still standing in the same position without moving, he thought about what his wife just said. His entire life flashed before his eyes, he hadn't been a good son, father nor husband. She was right, he needed to face his responsibilities and selling his precious artifacts was the only way to restore peace in his family. This was very hard for him and he knew that any decision he makes was going to change his life
forever.
The End .
Obsession can drive one nuts, now he has to choose between his family or his objet d'arts. what would it be, Patrick? Your mother's words are about to manifest.
Nice post👍
This is a wild tale of obsession, which pushes the main character into the depths of recklessness. It is amazing that his wife waited five years for him, despite his behavior. It seems that selling the artifacts may only be the beginning of reconciliation with his family.
