It was Monday morning. I woke up very late because I was tired the previous night. I rushed to the bathroom to take my bath and dressed up for work and I rushed to the kitchen to make myself some breakfast.
As I was making breakfast for myself, I mistakenly knocked over the sugar jar, spilling its contents all over the counter.
I started cleaning but just then my phone rang and it was my boss calling.
“Where are you?” asked my boss, “you have an hour to be in the office.”
I dropped all I was doing and rushed out of the house, forgetting my lunch and my phone charger. I boarded a taxi, as we were going, we were stuck in traffic and to make matters worse, it started raining and I was not with an umbrella.
Before I could get to the office, I was already soaked and my boss was in the office waiting for me.
I was working on a project that I was supposed to present and my boss was expecting me to do the presentation. On getting to the office, I realized that I had forgotten the project at home.
“Where is the project I asked you to work on?” my boss asked.
”Am sorry sir, I forgot it at home, I was preparing breakfast when your call came in and you told me that I had one hour to be in the office, so I rushed out forgetting my laptop in the house”
My boss didn't say a word, he just walked out. I went into my office and continued with my work for that day, with my drained clothes.
Few minutes to lunch, my boss called me to the office, telling me that the project I was to present on, has been postponed till the next day. I was happy about that.
I had been thinking on what to do because my boss silence meant trouble and so when he told me that the presentation had been postponed till the next day, I was very happy.
As I was leaving the office at the end of the day, I could not help but laugh at the absurdity of it all. My day had been completely mixed up.
But as I was walking home, I sighted a small cafe that I had never noticed before. I decided to go in and treat myself to a cup of coffee and recollecting all the events of the day. Starting from waking up late, to spilling sugar on the kitchen counter and to forgetting the project I was working on and even getting soaked in the rain.
While I sat there sipping my coffee and enjoying the quiet atmosphere, I realized that sometimes a mixed up day can lead to unexpected delights.
I left the cafe with great excitement and fulfilled not minding how my day started but how it ended matters. I got home took my bath and retired for the day thanking God for a day well spent.
