That morning I was very excited to go to school. This would be my first day at high school after the school orientation period was completed by the new students. I was so excited because that day was class selection and I hoped to be placed in class that I expected, namely science class 1. I had been dreaming of that place since I was in junior high school because I really wanted to learn a lot about the field of science. The reason I wanted to be in science class 1 was that class would be filled with clever and outstanding people and I wanted to be around them to develop myself too.
After breakfast, I got a text message from one of my high school friends saying that I was placed in science class 1. My soul literally soared at that moment through the seventh sky. I can't describe how happy I was at that moment when I found out the fact that I would be in the class of great people. I glanced at the clock and it was almost school time, I rushed there with over moon feeling.
When I arrived I saw many new students crowding around the information board in front of the art studio room, they wanted to know the announcement of the student roster and their respective class placements. I didn't need to join them and look for my name because I was already sure I was in science class 1.
Inside the class, I greeted everyone warmly. I took the frontmost seat close to the whiteboard. There were many students from other middle school that I met and some from the same middle school as me. At that time the atmosphere was still awkward, we were all still hesitant to break the stiff atmosphere between us. I hope that in the future we will start to show good cooperation with each other for the sake of our collective integrity.
while waiting for the homeroom teacher to arrive in an awkward state, a senior came to our class to ask for help to the male students to help lift chairs from the warehouse because there were several classes that lacked chairs for their students. We all rushed to the warehouse and when we got there I met one of my close friends in middle school, Risal.
"Where have you been? Why aren't you in class?" Risal suddenly reprimanded me with a words I didn't understand.
"What are you talking about? I've been in my class since before it even started!" I tried to explain to him.
"Which class? Why didn't I see you?" he looked even more confused.
"Of course science class 1! Why are you asking me that?"
He wrinkled his forehead in confusion and patted my shoulder briefly then whispered. "Faiz? Have you seen the class placement announcement?" it seemed that something wrong had happened. Carrying the chairs we had brought, he led me to the information board. I quickly scanned all the names in science class 1.
"Nothing!"
I couldn't find my name among the 34 students on the list. Why? even though I had received a message from another friend that I was in this class. Was she mistaken or something? I was really confused and didn't know what to do at that moment. On a whim I checked my name at science class 2 and abracadabra, unexpectedly my name was among the list. Apparently I'm in the same class as Risal.
I went back to science class 1 to get my bag accompanied by him. He could see my face full of disappointment. It turn out I wasn't destined to be in that class. I said goodbye to some of the students I had been introduced to earlier and explained to them that there had been a slight misunderstanding with me.
We immediately rushed to science class 2 and were surprised that there were many of my close friends besides Risal in this class. The atmosphere was also very warm because there were several extroverted students trying to break the ice between them. I admit that the class is even more comfortable because of the beautiful chairs arrangement and the clean white background.
Not long after waiting, the homeroom teacher finally came. She is an English teacher who is very friendly and familiar with us. I was delightful to be in this class. Although my disappointment still hasn't faded. I hope I can find happiness in this class with my new friends.
As time went by. We started to show a great sense of cohesiveness. We repeatedly won the cleanest class contest and finally could compete fairly against the science class 1. The thing that I can't forget is when the annual art and sport event, we managed to beat science class 1 in the field of debate, speech and English quiz and won the most favorite class out of many classes in our school.
Who would have thought, the class that I've been craving for a long time can now be beaten easily. Thank goodness I was in the right class to flourish. I will never forget the unforgettable memories with them in science class 2.

It must’ve been so heartbreaking to realise that you’d made a mistake; that you were not destined for class 1. However, you made the “grade” anyway, and you did it with spectacular aplomb. Lovely read.

Hehehehe.... at least you weren´t informed later after some weeks of being in the wrong class. That was a total disappointment to you and your friend who had to save you. But we wouldn´t blame the first friend who said you were in science class 1, it might be a normal mistake, and it wasn´t too late to realize you should be in class 2.
You got it right, i can't imagine my self late to found out that i'm in wrong class, maybe if it's happened, i would make an appointment to my principal for make a class move to science class 1
