"It's been fifteen years since our marriage, but still you are not serious about anything. Every time you do something to hurt me."
"And what's about you? I am fed up with your behavior."
"What? Fed up with this. Just clearly say, you are fed up with me."
"Whatever!"
"Omg... I never expected this! You are a heartless person. I don’t want to live with you."
"O please Mira! Stop this nonsense...Just go to hell." Jhon replied to his wife while he threw a hairbrush in anger.
"Omg...John, You broke the mirror. Do you have an idea what you did? Breaking a mirror brings seven years of bad luck! It will invite misfortune."
"O come on Mira! Stop connecting it with the superstition belief! You are just fearful gullible."
John and Mira were married for fifteen years and they had a 13-year-old daughter. Although they loved each other but were used to fighting over little things. Mira was a superstitious lady, who was used to associating everything with the wrong belief. Although Jhon was used to condemn her irrational behavior she was utter in her false conception. So the breaking of a mirror was too shocking for Mira. She associated it with bad luck.
After a few days, Jhon was very upset. Mira asked the reason for his sadness. He told her that the condition of their company is not good. They have lost the three projects continuously and the price of their shares in the market is not good. Hearing this, the superstitious thoughts again came to her mind and she associated this situation with a broken mirror. Jhon tried to make her understand but all was in vain.
After a few days, Mira was busy in households when someone knocked at the door. Mira went to open the door and it was Jhon.
"Jhon! You? Why do you come home from your job so early? Are you okay?"
"Let me come inside." He entered with worry on his face. Mira again asked,
"What happened? Why you are so upset?"
Jhon told her that their company's owner had decided to reduce the company workers as he couldn't pay the salary to the huge number of workers. So he would only hire the workers who have been working there for more than five years. Mira was shocked to hear this, but still, she said what Jhon was expecting from her.
"See, how bad luck is now on its way to our home. I don’t know how much we are going to suffer. Now, nothing is going to be better."
"Mira, please! Don't be insane."
But still, Mira was firm on her point. So now John was jobless and he was unable to provide needs to his family. He tried hard to find a job but couldn't. A few months passed, and all their savings were spent to fulfill their basic needs. One day, Mira woke up as usual and prepared their breakfast. But when she went to her daughter's room to wake her up, she found out that her daughter was suffering from a high fever. Mira ran to John and told him about her condition.
They brought her to the hospital where she was admitted for five days, but she was not recovering well. Doctors diagnosed that she has got typhoid. John and Mira were worried about her health and were already short of money. Mira still blamed Jhon for this bad luck which was brought due to a broken mirror. John was already fed up with her behavior, but he was bearing it with great patience. He took a loan and brought her daughter to another city for treatment. There she got perfect medical care and soon she was recovering. In two or three days, she was back at home.
After a few days, John received a call from an institution and they asked him for an interview. This was satisfying for Jhon. He went there and succeeded in getting a job. Their daughter's condition was also getting better and she was stable now. Although they suffered a lot, but still John never lost hope and he kept on trying despite hearing the discouraging remarks from Mira. But now things were getting better. Jhon made her understand that she was wrong to blame bad luck but still he couldn't change her mindset, as she was born superstitious.
The End!

Even after the turnout of things, John's was determined and didn't succumb to the wife's superstitious mindset.
I guess he really didn't believe in it, and that was why he kept trying, and it paid off. Still with that, the wife didn't believe that it wasn't the "broken mirror bad luck" that made everything turnout the way it did.
Superstition can affect someone to the point of giving up. I am glad John didn't give up in trying to get another job.
Sometimes superstitions seem to be so real. Glad John could recover what he had lost due to the broken mirror.
