The kingdom of Camelot was built on the hills, where the sun was evident. The inhabitants of Camelot worshipped the sun as their god. Believing its light to be eternal.

Over the centuries, they had used its power, channeling it to their equipment and their bodies. The ideology of darkness was a mere myth.

But amongst them, there was one who doubted.

Alice, who was a young astronomer, spent her time observing the sky through the solar-powered lenses. Unlike the priests of the sun in Camelot, Alice didn't believe that the sun was a god, rather it was a mere celestial body governed by nature nobody could control.

One afternoon, she stood at the top of the great tower, observing the sky through her lenses when something odd caught her attention-A dark shadow moving towards the sun.

"A solar eclipse is about to occur." She said to herself.

The next day, Alice rushed into the temple of the sun, where the high priest-Damon sat on a golden throne, sipping a cup of coffee. Rays of sunlight were cast into the temple, creating different patterns on the floor.

"Priest, I must speak with you..." She said, trying to catch her breath.

Damon fixed his gaze on her, "what is it that troubles you, young woman."

She hesitated at first, thinking about the effects of her words. "In four day's time the sun will cease from the sky."

There was a minute of silence in the hall, a look of surprise written on the faces of all the priests except Damon, whose expression didn't change.

"You speak nothing but blasphemy." Damon said, with a Cold voice.

"No, it is pure science. The moon and the sun will align together, and the moon will block the sun's light, causing total darkness, which is known as-A solar eclipse." Alice defended herself, trying to prove a point to Damon.

The hall became filled with distant murmurs.

"You are just being ignorant, the sun is a god and can't be hidden." Damon said calmly.

"You have to belive me priest, I can prove it, I can show you my scientific calculations."

He raised his staff. "Enough, you have allowed your mind to be poisoned by doubt and disbelief. The sun does not disappear neither does it fade."

"But priest, I speak nothing but the truth."

"The truth? You sow nothing but discord and fear among our people, that's not accepted here in Camelot." Damon said.

"I just want to inform the people about what's coming." Alice said, with a tone of desperation.

"There is nothing coming, leave this place at once!" Damon said angrily, losing his patience.

Alice squeezed her face in frustration, she knew trying to convince Damon any further would be a waste of time as she reluctantly walked out of the hall.

Finally, the day of the eclipse arrived.

The sunlight braced the kingdom of Camelot and the people went about their daily activities, oblivious of the event about to occur.

Alice stood at the top of the great tower, watching the dark shadow closing in on the sun.

Then she voiced out.

"Soon, Camelot will be filled with darkness but do not be afraid!"

People looked up and laughed at her, while others scoffed.

"She must be crazy."

Just then, the eclipse began.

Darkness slowly covered the kingdom and the lit-up kingdom became dim. Laughter turned into gasps.

The darkness spread, displacing the sun, their god. Panic erupted through the whole kingdom, people fell to their knees trembling and shedding tears, the priests lit up fires in an attempt to restore the light but all to no avail.

But Alice was not moved.

Then everywhere became totally dark, the sun was completely gone.

Darkness filled the sky, little stars that no one in Camelot had ever seen, appeared above.

The people became quiet, for the first time in history, Camelot experienced the night.

Alice stood, amazed at the sight before her.

"Wonder..." She muttered.

Priest Damon stood among his followers, trembling with fear as he looked up to the sky in disbelief. He then turned to Alice, with a shaky voice.

"Tell me, is this your doing?"

"I have no hand in this, it is nature at work." She replied him with a smile on her face.

Hours passed, and the dark shadow moved from the sun's path, lifting the darkness.

The sun became evident again and the entire city was filled with light once more.

Damon turned to Alice and said.

"So you have been correct all along, I'm sorry for doubting you."

"It's alright." Alice replied smiling, still amazed at the wonder she just beheld.

The people rejoiced, some shed tears of joy, for they had never experienced such an event all their lives. They were never the same again, for they had seen the impossible.
