Aviva?! Is that really you?
I turned around to the familiar voice I just heard and there he was—Henry, an ex who ghosted me out of the blue after we dated for two years.

Aviva worked at a prestigious firm where she was paid handsomely, but her appointment was terminated after two years. It was there that she met Henry.
It started as being just friends to something more than friends and which finally blossomed into a relationship, although they worked in the same firm, they had to keep their private lives separate, it was the work ethics of the company.
They always met after work, went on dates, the few coworkers who knew about this envied their relationship and wished for it. That Thursday evening, the sweethearts as usual agreed to meet after work but Henry never showed up, he never called or sent a message as to why he didn't show up neither did he ever reply to Aviva’s calls and messages. He also never came to work again.
Poor Aviva was heartbroken and decided to fully focus on work to get her mind off. Unfortunately, her company terminated her appointment with them soon after, saying her services were no longer needed. It felt like her whole world was crumbling. She needed to get another job as soon as possible. She applied to various companies but kept getting disappointments, until she was called for an interview in this company.
Her alarm blared that morning, jerking her up from sleep, it was her interview date! She had stayed up till very late, getting all the documents she was going to be needing, arranged….she was too anxious and prayed she got the job.
When she was finally able to get some sleep, her alarm rang the next minute, she quickly glanced at the time, the interview was in an hour, she had to spring into action as she had less than the space of that time left.

She rushed into the shower, wore her clothes, grabbed her bag, car keys and rushed out of the house. She was running late but her car wouldn’t start Why is this happening today of all days? Aviva asked angrily. She then managed to get a cab not too far from her place, but then traffic was brutal, time was of essence.
She eventually got to the reception and was directed to wait and sit with the other interviewees, her heart kept pounding as she rehearsed all possible questions and subsequent answers in her head.

The interviewees were called in one after the other. Majority came out wearing sad faces while some others had this scowl. The interviewees kept chattering about the personnel manager.
Curious, Aviva then asked;
Hello, sorry to ask, why is everyone talking about the personnel manager? Is there a problem?
He is very hard to impress A guy replied.
This made Aviva more nervous, it was now her turn. As she walked into the room, she felt the air in there stifling, almost as if she couldn’t breathe, while she tried to settle down and introduce herself….she heard someone call her name, it was the chief interviewer and her ex, Henry. She had not prepared for that kind of surprise Could today get any worse? She muttered under her breath.
She pushed back emotions, she couldn’t afford to let them get in the way, knowing how long it took her to secure at least an interview. The questioning started, it was difficult for her to concentrate as Henry kept staring, but after what seemed like forever, the interview came to an end and she did get the job!
As Aviva stepped out, Henry followed her almost immediately, begging for a chance to explain himself and apologize for the pain he had caused her, but her heart was void of emotions, so she refused to have the conversation.

Soon enough, she resumed work and settled in, on her second day of work she ran into Henry again, who explained his actions and begged for a second chance to make things right. Aviva understood and saw reasons with him as to why he ghosted her, with time she forgave him….But could she give him another chance? Definitely Not!!! She wouldn't want him to spring any more surprises on her!
