The ink well prompt. Fragile heart.

“All men are scum” Mary’s mum will always say as she complains bitterly pondering on what her eyes have seen while she was with Mary's father.

“How will a man abandon his family, no goodbye, no communication, not even concerned on how they are fairing?” Whenever the thought comes to her heart she says all kinds of bitter things concerning men regardless of what any man around her will feel.

Mary grew up to the fact that men generally are wicked and don't deserve a heart to love so all boys right from her primary school who tried to be her friends are always pushed aside without any remorse not even ready to give a try.

Right to her college days, it becomes even worse as she grows old her mum never noticed these and that's because she thinks Mary is not yet ready for any form of love so she ignored the fact that Mary has no boy as her friend. She does her things with mostly girls.

It moved on until she graduated into the tertiary institution but still it even grew worse because at that point there was a clear move of boys who are ready to love but the heart they are trying to fall in love with happen to be fragile a heart that isn't ready to give room for any kind and form of love Mary's hate gor men grew for the fact that her dad never showed up for even a day to check on them.

The information gotten about him was that he left and got married to another lady in a distant land leaving Mary and her mother to their fate, all rumours gotten from friends but Mary'sother never took out time to see if what she was hearing about her husband was true all this years was both rough and scattered as she struggled with her little baby who has turned into a tall dark skinned beautiful lady with every endowment that a lady will love to her that reason made guys flood the gate of their house but she wouldn't give in to any of the guys who showed intrest in her.

Her mother noticed and called her attention.
“Mary, won't you get married?”

The question popped out of nowhere Mary looked at her mum and answered.

“Yes, I wouldn't want to end up with some stupid man who will leave me to suffer just because I choose to marry him.”

Mary’s mother was short of words as she least expected that from Mary though she never discussed but she never knew that all those while she has been she has been complaining and muttering words about Mary's father has built some rigid edge around Mary's heart that makes her despise men in general.

That was a new assignment for Mary's mother as she is now left with the assignment of convincing Mary that not all men are like that.

How will she do this? As a grown up girl it will be even more difficult.

Just like an African proverb.
“A tree can easily be bent to any direction when it's still tender but any attempt to do that when it's all grown will only cause a damage on it because it has become rigid”

And that's what Mary's mother has succeeded in doing. Any attempt now may cause a serious damage in Mary's life but then she has to correct the wrong impression so that Mary can enjoy the company of a good man. Perhaps her situation will be sweet.

And she will be glad to have some kids run around her as a grandmother.

So, the story changed from men are scum to men are the most beautiful beings on earth, your father use to love you when you were still little, he loved me as well, we used to have a beautiful family then a job came and he left for it and that was the end of it.

All the rumours about your dad married in a distance land are all lie i have gone to confirm it myself while you were in school and discovered it's not your dad it's just someone that looks exactly like him it's indeed true that people have their look alike existing somewhere he looks exactly like your dad but it's not him.

That was when I came to realize that he might have got himself into some danger that has taken him away totally without even a glimpse of where he might be, my prayers for him is that he finds rest and peace wherever he ever will be.

Mary became remorseful on how she treated boys and all the guys who have come her way but then it will take time before her heart will have to accept any guy.

But a right direction has been set and now the heart of Mary is left to choose the path she will follow but Mary's mother urges Mary to try and find love for it's a beautiful thing.

This is beautifully crafted. It's a reminder of how our experiences and influences can shape our perceptions. Well done,I enjoyed your story.

I appreciate the way her mother changed her mindset. Finally she started thinking positive things about men.
