RE: Fatal Assumption

That's why rule number one is to get the straight story! This is well-written, suspenseful and a good read, @blueeyes8960. You're an excellent writer, and I always enjoy your stories. Note that The Ink Well doesn't curate stories focused on violence or murder. But I like the story, and I appreciate that you don't show any violence!

I'm glad you liked the story, sorry that it was over the boundary. I thought it was a very "tame" type of violence with nothing worse than a little choking scene described. And we don't even know for sure that she died. How good of a poisoner was mama?

The story started out in my mind with a conversation at lunch, but since we were striving for arc, suspense, conflict, and twists, I went for a more shocking ending.

So I'll keep my future entries out of that realm

Thanks for the feedback!

Thank you, @blueeyes8960. To be quite honest, we struggle constantly with where to draw the line. You're absolutely right — there is nothing morbid in your story. I found it quite enjoyable. It reminded me of the classic whodunnit murder mysteries.

In any given day, we have at least one or two stories involving violence, gore or murder, and we haven't figured out how to allow one type of murder (or attempted murder) and not another!
