Hi @mrenglish. Have you ever checked out our catalog of fiction writing tips? There's an article in particular I recommend called Action, Dialog and Narrative: The Dynamic Trio.
A true story has a character that speaks and moves and interacts with other characters in the story. We want to hear what the characters have to say, and see them in movement. Stories that are all narrative essentially summarize the story instead of letting the reader experience it.
