Another Interesting Day in the Clinic - Guess what happened today!!

in The Ink Well7 days ago

How far guys, I'm here again with another latest gist on how I spent my day at the clinic. I am not going to say today was boring since I had a lot of opportunities to go around the wards and see inpatients.

Before I go ahead, I'll start by saying that I woke up early today unlike other days. Why? I had set up my alarm which should ring around 5am . So when the alarm hit, I didn't find it difficult to wake up due to how early I slept the night before.

So waking up from the right side of the bed, I went out to get ready for the day. Well, I think I spent some minutes but not a few, reading my books before I went out.

After preparing, I ate My breakfast, which was spaghetti. I didn't waste time devouring the food the way I wanted to since I didn't want to go late. I got on the bus as soon as I reached the park, and straight away we zoomed off to UNTH. It is marvelous to say that I didn't pay the transport fee when I reached my destination since I was in the same bus as my parents, so obviously, they paid for my transportation, helping me to save the money which I was supposed to use.

I got off the bus and took a bike which took me inside the hospital. When I got to my unit, I met my colleagues who were there before me, I greeted everyone and joined the interaction that was going on already.
One of the interns picked a topic which was edema for us to discuss.

I took this picture while the discussion was going on.
She talked about the classifications and types of edema. Yes, I know about edema when I was doing my preclinicals but not to this deep details. So I was absorbed by the topic and we paid close attention to everything the intern was saying.

While the discussion was going on , the chief came in and interrupted the session. She wanted us to go to the ward to see the inpatients. We prepared and took our lab coats with the writing materials and left for the ward round. We met the first patient at the Women's Ward but we didn't see her. We learned that she went for radiotherapy. We left the ward and went to the oncology ward. When we got there, our patient was fast asleep and according to her folder, she was having a high temperature. So the Chief said we should leave her to rest.

We moved to the men's ward afterwards and luckily the patients and their caregivers were there. We divided ourselves into groups and then commenced our treatment . We began with positioning the patients in the appropriate manner. This was done by the interns and some few students too. Other treatment plans were carried out before we concluded with documentation.

After that, we went back to the unit. It was past 12pm when we arrived at the unit so that signifies that we were about to go. We signed out and we all departed. I left immediately even when some students were still in the unit. I wasn't following them to school as I am coming from my home, so I didn't wait for them. I left the hospital and trekked to the gate. I waited for some minutes before I could get a bus going to my destination. The picture below was taken by me when I was waiting for the bus to come.

I boarded the bus and I got home after a 40 minute drive. It was a smooth journey and I thank God for that. I got home, washed and then ate my lunch. After that I decided to prepare my article which I am going to post on HIVE for the day before I go to study. Also, I intend to do research for my presentation which will be tomorrow at the hospital.

So this is how I'm going to stop here for now. See you guys tomorrow and thanks for reading. Thanks for today
