Aye. I'm not sure if disturbing is the word but stories like this just evoke that awful feeling in me. You succeeded in doing that and that's an attribute of a good writer.

I can never understand women who turn a blind eye to when their children are being abused😮‍💨

I'm glad Adrianne in the end created a better life for herself and her daughter.
