Way back in 2017, there was this lady I had a crush on and we were close but to open up my feelings to her became a big problem. You know, it's difficult sometimes to open up to a friend.
I thought of several ways to do that but the more I try, the more everything looked awkward. The worst thing was that, I was seeing and hearing about advances from other guys towards her.
Funny enough, I was ready to take the bold step but the man in me kept running away. I couldn't just walk up to her and I didn't want to use phone because she would laugh over it and that's because my serious face won't be there to demonstrate how serious I am, beside I conversate in a jovial way and one would hardly pick my serious words.
I got a trick from a movie I watched, a guy used letter to profess love to his crush and it worked very well, so I decided to take same step to see the outcome.
It was around December of that year when the year was winding up, I thought of the words to use over two weeks, I didn't want it to look like a "copy and paste" format, I had to compose it myself with my style.
I pondered on it but could not get any reasonable lengthy words, so I just came up with this;
That's was it! I folded it and placed it on my church book. I masterminded the letter & scenario and planned to give it to her on the cross over night to the New Year, that's why I added the "new year" to the letter.
It got to the cross over night program, I was ready to release the bomb and nothing can stop me. I was in the program that night but I wasn't concentrating, all my mind was focused on how she would react when I give her the letter.

The moment I was waiting for came, the New Year was decleared and everybody were jubilating for crossing over to 2018 and I gently walked up to her and handed over that letter to her. I turned back immediately and didn't got the courage to look at her face when unveiling the letter.
After some moments, I manly turned to her direction and I saw her whooping the moments with laughter. I became dead inside Instantly, I felt the awkwardness and wanted to leave the event at the time but what would I say if my boss ask of my whereabout? So I stayed put.
After the night, I had chance to meet her to really explain the content of the letter incase it appeared so simple to her.
Well, it didn't ended well with me because she came and said she likes me as a brother😂 and that's when I childishly entered the "brother zone".🤭

I bet, the girls weren't easy on us way back in school and even now, they still look away for certain reason. I feel the pain and rejection but never mind, the best girl would come by.

There is a saying, "Nothing ventured, nothing gained". If you hadn't written, you never would have known. It was rather rude of her to laugh. That shows she probably didn't deserve your affection. However, though you may be in the brother zone, but you are also in the 'clear' zone: you know where you stand. No more worrying. No more wondering. It's over :)
