Shattered Trust.

Mercy hid beside the chiller upon sighting her fiance at the mall, Wale was pushing a shopping cart filled with groceries alongside a fair lady shaped like an hourglass. She matched the description her friend, Romoke, mentioned some days ago, which led to a disagreement between them.

"This can't be real. Are my eyes deceiving me?" Mercy's voice trembled. Her body was shaking vigorously with anger and she struggled to control her emotions.

"So it's true? Romoke actually saw Wale with this fair lady, but I was so blinded by love and cut ties with my friend because of this cheater," She whispered, taking another glance at Wale, who picked up her favorite cookies from a shelf.

"He even bought my favorite cookies for her, but why will he bring a lady here when he knows I was coming here?" Mercy stuttered, hissing as she stormed out from her hiding spot.

Earlier that day, she pleaded that Wale dropped her off at the mall to get some groceries for the weekend but he gave an excuse of meeting a client for a new project. Every effort to make Wale drop her off was futile, and she had to take Uber.

She called Wale's number to see if he would pick up right there in the mall but his line didn't go through.

"That cheat has turned off his phone. I know he can deny this because he's very smart and full of lies. I have to catch him by arm not wrist," Mercy thought and waited patiently for Wale to exit the mall with the fair lady.

Mercy watched them holding hands, looking at eachother seductively at the cashier's table and she was running out of patience.

"You can do this, Mercy. Just wait a little more," She whispered, rubbing her chest as she felt a burning sensation there.

Her heart was pounding heavily, and she thought of calling Romoke, hoping she would help with the secret investigation she was about to embark on, but her lines didn't go through as well.

She tried calling again, taking a few steps away from where she stood but it still didn't go through.

Upon turning back to look at Wale, he was gone. Mercy had to rush out of the shopping mall, pushing the mall security who was trying to stop her to the ground.

She looked around, trying to figure out which direction they went, but there was no sign of Wale or the fair lady.

"Madam, you didn't pay for the goods. Please do the needful, or I call the police," The security man said immediately after he caught up with her.

"I am so sorry sir," Mercy apologized and handed the goods with some cash to the man before taking off.

Cab! Cab!! Mercy screamed and just hopped in the next available cab.

"Take me home, Bamford Street. You have to hurry," She told the driver while looking through the window hoping to still see Wale.

The driver sped up as instructed and Mercy didn't take her eyes off the road while thinking Wale took off because he probably saw her.

As they approached Wale's house, she saw him driving in from the other road and almost jumped out of the cab.

"Please, stop. Stop!" She screamed at the cab man, leaving some cash on the seat.

"Wale! Wale!! Just stop right there," She rushed towards his car as he alighted.

"Why was your line switched off? Where is the fair lady? You've changed your dress, right? Where have you been? Answer me," Mercy screamed at the top of her voice.

"What are you saying? What's the exact question you are asking?" Wale stuttered.

"Don't just pretend, Wale. I saw you at the mall with a girl," She yelled at him.

"Babe, you need to calm down. It's not me, and I have been asking questions since you said, Romoke saw me the other day, " Wale replied calmly.

"Don't talk me into your lies because this time, it won't work. I won't overlook this," She hissed, walked past him into the house, and slammed the door.

Wale gently followed her and made a call on his way inside. He got into the house and was surprised to see Mercy packing her things already.

"Will you stop all this if I can prove that it wasn't me you saw at the mall?" Wale stuttered as he held Mercy from behind.

"I am heartbroken right now, and yes, I need proof to heal. You can't keep playing on my emotions," She replied, forcing herself out of Wale's hands.

"You are just too stubborn, always trying to end this relationship at the slightest opportunity. You can do whatever you want, but I will prove my innocence in all of this," Wale replied and went to turn on his PC. He adjusted the webcam properly and made a call via Skype.

His heart raced while staring at the screen and Mercy paused to see who he was calling.

The call was picked up at the other end and Wale was shocked to see his exact look-alike on the PC screen.

"Hi, I am Wale. I..." He stuttered and ran out of words.

"I can't believe my eyes, it means I am really a twin, as my foster parent said. My name is Femi," Wale's twin replied and called his wife to come see who he was talking to.

"I feel great right now and never had a clue of you until an incident that happened some days ago. I became curious and had to beg a friend in the government to help me check the chances of me being a twin or probably, I just have a striking resemblance with someone in this city," Wale replied.

"Yes, he reached out to me and explained you have issues in your relationship because of me. I gave him my contact and was counting down to this moment," Femi replied.

"How come I never met you? I spent all my life here, and our paths never crossed neither did anyone mention you to me," Wale replied.

"The world might be small ironically, but it's a big place too. I didn't grow up here and just decided to bring my fiancee home for honeymoon," Femi replied.

"We really need to meet physically and I am sorry we had to meet this way," Wale said, briefly glancing at his wife.

"Come say hello to my twin," Wale whispered to Mercy who sluggishly approached him.

She waved, feeling ashamed, and turned away from the camera immediately after exchanging pleasantries.

The chat went on for a while and ended after the brothers made plans to meet physically and dig more about their background.

"I am sorry for doubting you," Mercy went on her knees immediately after the call ended. Wale shook his head and helped her up.

"I understand you were protecting your man, but you should really trust me," He replied and hugged her.
