It's 2019,
Life was so colorful that I was flying like a free bird. From being a teenager I had just stepped into adulthood, college life had just ended, so the atmosphere was pretty cool for me. Met countless people, friends, and more than that. In the crowd, there was someone who used to care for me which was visible even in the midst of a crowd but I was carefree about anything of this sort.
A week before my birthday,
“Hey, can we meet?”
“Nope, we can't.”
I was very rude/careless to the people except for my closest friends and family. Still, that person managed an indirect meetup, through another friend, to deliver a birthday gift for me. I guessed something like this and that's why I didn’t want to meet in person but still, it came to me via another friend which was unexpected.
It's 2020 and the same thing happened, this time no proposal to meet but a direct transfer. Wait, I have sent gifts on her birthdays too, I love to balance equations, especially in these cases when someone tries to do something or cares for me.
In 2021,
I was a little bit civilized and was trying to be polite to everyone who cared for me. So that year, there was no scope for denying on the face. She had decided to meet two weeks before my birthday to keep things normal because I love to run away from these places where people try to make me feel special by doing such things. Am I antisocial? Maybe, I don't know what's wrong with me.
I saw her walking towards me, a huge shopping bag in her hand, I just realized what the scene was going to be. I felt like running away, but this would be so mean and I am not that bad, so I stood still and I saw that devil's smile on her face as well that portrays her win.
With a smile on her face, “So Mr. Finally you are here, wanna run away leaving me in the middle of this road?”
In reply, ” So mean! It would be a great sin if I do that, I am a good boy, you know that, right?”
I saw fires in her eyes, she was ready to eat me alive hearing these words from me. We were in the middle of the road so we needed to head towards a place where we could sit and talk. She handed the bag in my hands, I was shocked by its weight, it wouldn't be less than 2 KG.
I was like, “Wtf have you brought? Why is it so heavy?”
She just said, “Bricks, to break on your head, call a vehicle, I can't stand here for long.”
I was with her for almost two hours and throughout the whole time I was wondering what could be inside that's so heavy, isn’t it embarrassing to keep thinking or to ask about gifts that you just got? Trust me, I was clueless and couldn’t get rid of that. She was enjoying this, kinda teasing me through her smiles and this dilemma. Later, those were some heavy metal and some were made of glass along with the other stuff and that's why those weighed so much on my first impression.
There are lots of expensive gifts that I have got too, maybe could have portrayed a different picture too, but trust me, this one was epic. When she said she brought bricks and wanted to break my head, I got blank. This was possible because I was running away from her for the previous two years, she was super pissed at me, lol.
Whenever I do remember these moments, I feel so special and wholesome. Well, I do still have that friend, little more closer and responsible than before.

Hilarious! 😂 there is never a dull moment with this type of friend. At least she told you what was in the bag before you have to go through the trouble of dragging it home and finding out for yourself. She's indeed a good friend and one thing I have observed from your story is that she keep things real, no pretense whatsoever
