Echoes of uncertainty.

"I can swear that my parents would love you; your personality is out of this world and extremely too good for the world we live in." Noah, who is planning to get married to his fiancée, said to her

"Are you sure?" Sandra said with a big smile displaying her fine set of dentition as she continued to blush.

Noah was only two years old when his uncle, who lives abroad, adopted him. Because of the cost of traveling back, he never went back home to see his parents again; he never paid them a visit, but he always tried to keep in touch with them thanks to technology. The only family he had physical contact with was his uncle and his family, and they accepted him like theirs and raised him the same way they raised their kids. Everything they did for their kids, they did for him too, and now he has grown up into a man of his own, and it is time for him to start up his own family, but as always, tradition demands that his parents must approve of the union before they push through with it.

He still considered the cost of traveling back home and wanted his uncle and his wife to act as foster parents, but his uncle declined and demanded that he goes home. "I know I raised you, and you are my son, but I will not take my brother's place in your life completely and make it look like he does not exist at all. Go home, my boy." His uncle suggested

"But uncle, you know how expensive it would be for two people to travel back home, right?" Noah asked

"My wife and I will support you in every way possible. You have to go home so you can learn a little about tradition and what goes on back home, and so your parents too will get to see their son after 28 years and the woman he intends to marry." His uncle said with a straight face.

"But uncle," Noah was still trying to lay another complaint before his uncle cut in, "you are going back home, and that is final." His uncle cut in.

Noah and his fiancée traveled to Noah's hometown, a place he has not been to in ages and could remember very little about. He was given a warm welcome by family, both nuclear and extended family members, who gave him the type of welcome he did not expect, and it gladdened his heart. "You left home a boy and returned a man." Mr. David, his dad, said as he shook hands with him.

"I am really happy to see you all." Noah said as he went about hugging everyone that came out to welcome him.

"So she is the one that wants to take you away from us." Mrs. David His mother teased as they hugged so tight.

"You all meet Sandra, and Sandra meets my family; you will get to know their names with time." Noah Introduced Sandra to everyone

"Hi everyone." Sandra said shyly.

Noah and Sandra had his siblings show them around, took them to the stream and rivers in the village, and tried to help them experience the village and told them about a few traditions but missed out on the important one. A few days later, Sandra, who always liked to help, went to the stream alone to fetch water and decided to trap some fingerlings from the stream, as she always dreamt of having an aquarium in her sitting room, and since she is about to start a family of her own, she felt it was the best time to make it happen.

"See what I found." Sandra said showing the fingerlings to her fiancé's brothers, who immediately left the place after giving her a look. "I showed your brothers my fingerlings, and they were acting weird. Have I done anything wrong?" Sandra went ahead to ask Noah.

"I don't know why they acted how they did, but this will indeed beautify the sitting room." Noah, who does not know much about his village's norms and traditions, responded.

"What have you done? How many people saw you coming back with this?" Mr. David shouted, pointing at the fingerlings in her hand.

"Nobody, sir, only showed it to his brothers, and they acted all weird afterwards." Sandra responded.

"Hand it over immediately." Mr. David said with a tone

"Did I do anything wrong?" Sandra asked as she handed over the fingerlings and watched Mr. David walk away without saying a single word.

Noah and Sandra kept seeking answers for their questions as to why everyone acted the way they did because she brought two fingerlings home, but everyone left their questions unanswered as no one really had any answer to give to them. Noah's father did not come back home until past midnight, and Noah rushed to meet him for all of his unanswered questions.

"Dad, why all the reaction for just two fingerlings, and don't try to wave my questions like everybody else?" Noah asked

"I have had a really long day thanks to your fiancée, but I have paid the price already. You have not been home in a very long time, so I cannot expect you to know all of this, but we do not eat or in any way harm fishes in this village." Mr. David responded as he walked towards his room.

"But why, where we come from, we do that with no questions asked? Why are things different here?" Noah asked

"It has been so since time immemorial; no one has tried to change it, and there have been different stories about the fishes in the rivers and streams of this village. Some say the fishes belong to the gods; some say the fishes are gods. Every village has their own traditions, culture, and beliefs, so let's just say this is ours." Mr. David said as he entered his room, leaving Noah standing by the door.

"No one has given me the type of answers I want; all I have are unanswered questions." Noah murmured as he walked away.

I can see that Noah was not satisfied with the answer that Mr David gave
Maybe he Gould keep making researches😅

He should not stop 😂, curiosity would keep fueling his desire to know more.

Thanks for stopping by.

I hope Noah and Sandra get the answers they’re looking for and find a way to balance everything.

Hopefully they would get their answers lol 😂.
