Some days are so bad that you wish you had not even left your bed to start the day. Maybe if you had stayed in bed, all that happened would not have happened, but these bad days come with an experience of their own. As humans, all we want and hope for is the good part of life, but sometimes life exposes us to the complete opposite of what we hope and pray for. It was a very cold Saturday morning, and I had to accompany my younger brother to his examination venue since he does not know his way around.
"David, wake up so you can prepare, and we will be able to meet up with your exams." I said as I tapped him.
"I am awake; I just need to rest a while before I leave the bed." David responded with a grumpy voice.
A few minutes later he stood up and went to put water on the fire since the cold was too much, and bathing with cold water is really not an option; we needed warm water at least to stay warm. I was still in bed and replying to messages when I heard my brother call out for me but needed to be sure. "Did you turn off the gas?" David asked
"I have not left this bed since." I responded with a look on my face since he did not turn off the gas, and I did not, and every other person in the house is still asleep. It simply means the gas has finished.
"If you did not turn it and I did not, that only means one thing." David said with a mischievous smile on his face
"And what would that be?" I asked him to confirm so I can prepare my mind.
"It simply means the gas has finished, and we are bathing with cold water this morning." David responded as he hung his towel on his shoulder.
"If cold does not kill me this morning, then there is no way I will die of cold again." I responded as I got back to my phone.
We bathed cold water that morning and were shivering until we got to the bus station where we boarded a bus to his exams venue, his exams was scheduled for 1pm but we left the house at around 7am since we had to travel to another local government and the journey would last about 3 hours, we calculated everything including possible delays and decided to leave very early and just like on some days it never rains but it pours and this Saturday turned out to be that day. A few minutes into the journey, the bus broke down.
"I have a meeting to catch up with; please do not waste my time." One of the passengers shouted as the driver immediately stopped a taxi to take him to a nearby mechanic shop to get help.
This Saturday was indeed one hell of a ride, while waiting for the driver to come back with a mechanic it started raining and we all had to run back into the bus to take cover and avoid getting completely drenched because even while in the bus we were still getting drenched because some of the bus window were bad and we could not close it.
"If not for your exams all these unfortunate things wouldn't be happening to me today." I said angrily to my brother.
"I am sorry about all the inconveniences, but you know none of this is my fault but you sound like you want to blame me." David responded with a look on his face
"I am sorry, but I just feel kind of frustrated. After bathing with cold water in this weather, now I am out here getting drenched. Indeed, today is the day I will feel cold like I am about to freeze." I responded as we both laughed.
We were at the spot for over 45 minutes before the driver arrived with a mechanic and it was still drizzling but we were all asked to drop down from the bus as one of the tyres needed to be removed to get the problem fixed and doing that needed the bus to be light weighted. After about an hour and a half, the bus was fixed, and we continued our journey, we arrived at the venue of the exams about an hour early and were happy we left the house early because if we had not, he would have probably missed his exams with all the delays on the road.
Some days it seems the universe conspired to make you have a bad day. Luckily for U, you were not late for the exam despite all the challenges.
Sometimes it feels like your village people caught up with you 😂.
Thanks for stopping by.
It was really a day to be remembered, but the joy is that you guys got to the exam venue before the exam despite the delay on the road.
Getting to the venue before the exams started made us all happy.
