"What do you think? I am marrying a man old enough to be my father for love. I am only getting married to him because of what he has to offer." Stephanie said when her friend questioned her decision about marrying a man way older than her.
"So instead of working for your own money, you prefer to go this way? I hope you know what you are getting into, and I hope you have a change of heart." Ruth, her close friend, said as she walked out angrily, leaving Stephanie at the restaurant where they went to eat lunch.
Stephanie, who has struggled all her life because of her lifestyle, feels she has finally found a way out of her misery by settling down with an older man and feels in no time he will pass on and she gets to inherit everything he owns or even part of it, and that way she would escape poverty and live the life she has always dreamt of since she cannot work to give herself that life. Stephanie is extravagant and lazy, not wanting to work herself out for any reason, but has a very big dream and wants to live a luxurious lifestyle.
"I know why you want to marry my father; you don't love him, and I see right through you, Stephanie, but whatever plan you have in mind, I will not let it work for you." Joseph, the son of the man Stephanie intends to marry, said to her on the very first day he met her.
"You don't know that; I do love your father and will do anything to have him all to myself. I will advise that you stay out of the way." Stephanie responded, and her response got Joseph worried about his father.
The conversation Joseph had with Stephanie only helped prove his suspicions right, and now he had to do something to protect his father as his father won't listen. To his father, Stephanie was the perfect replacement for his late wife (Joseph's mother), whereas Stephanie had her own plans and only wanted to use him as a stepping stone to live the life she wants.
"Hey Dan, I think my dad is in trouble. The girl he wants to marry has bad intentions, and I am sure of that. What do you think I should do?" Joseph sought advice from his childhood friend Daniel when they ran into each other in the office.
"This is quite hard; if only your dad would listen and call off the wedding, but since he won't, why not hire a private investigator? One whose only job will be to watch your father closely and make sure he is safe; even if she has bad intentions, he won't let her have the chance to have a go at it." Daniel responded
"How will he watch him when he is in the house? You know that will make his job difficult, right?" Joseph asked, using his fingers to tap the table, showing frustration.
"How about when Stephanie and your dad are out, he sneaks in and installs hidden cameras all over the house? At least that way you will have your eyes on him all the time, even at home." Daniel responded
"You are a genius, man; you should be working with the FBI or something." Joseph said as he hugged him and rubbed his head.
After the wedding, Joseph went ahead and hired a private investigator to do the job. He installed hidden cameras all over the house and missed no room just to make sure his father was safe. He even had the private investigator live right opposite his father's mansion.
"Your job is to make sure he is safe at all times; I am willing to pay you whatever the cost may be." Joseph said
"No problem; Daniel said to trust you, so as long as Daniel trusts you, I trust you." The private investigator said as he got to work.
Two years have passed and Joseph's father did not die like she planned, which simply means no inheritance for her, and she decided to take it into her hands and make it faster by poisoning his drink.
"Since he has refused to die naturally and people are mocking me for marrying an oldie, I should just help him end it." She thought to herself as she entered the kitchen to do exactly what crossed her mind.
Seeing what she was trying to do, the private investigator called Joseph immediately and gave him a report, and without wasting time, Joseph showed up with the police just when she was about to serve his father the poisoned drink.
"Don't drink that, dad; it is poisoned." Joseph said the moment he stepped into the house.
"How do you know that?" His father asked
"Through that," Joseph said, pointing at one of the hidden cameras. "I told you not to trust her, but you refused. A few days after your wedding, I had hidden cameras installed all over the house so I could ensure your safety." Joseph added
Stephanie was already fidgeting and tried to run away but was caught by the policemen at the door. "I told you I will not let you have a go at whatever plans you have in mind. Arrest her." Joseph said as he escorted Stephanie to the police van outside.

I love the idea of hiring a private investigator and installing those hidden cameras. I am impress with how Joseph was able to handle the situation. This is clear lesson that there is always consequences in every selfish intentions.
