Juliet who graduated high school about 5 years ago have been putting in the effort to get into college and study law but all efforts to make that happen seems futile, entrance exams are held once a year and every year there will be an excuse as to why she will not be given admission, either she fails the entrance exams or her name will be missing on the list of those who have been granted admission. Juliet became a thing of mockery to her friends, neighbors and even her father uses her inability to get into law school to tease her sometimes but she sees all of it as mockery.
ockery.
All the mockery she used as fuel to keep her desire for law school burning, sometimes this mockery gets to her especially those that come from her friends who are already college students, some are already rounding up while she have not even gotten any admission and all she has is the hope that someday she will go to law school and pursue her childhood dreams of becoming a lawyer.
"Where is that ambassador for law school entrance exams?" Mr John asked as he buried himself in the couch waiting for his other children to call on Juliet
"Dad, you called for me." Juliet said bringing her dosing father back as he sits up.
"Sit down, I need to have a conversation with you about what I have in mind." Mr John said as he taps on the couch.
"What is it you want to discuss with me dad?" Juliet asked calmly looking him In the eyes and waiting for him to talk.
"Well, I don't know how to put it but I think it is time to go for plan B, you have to give up your dreams of ever becoming a lawyer, I will like you to enrol at a firm where you get entrepreneurial skills." Mr John said making a facial expression as he knew how she would react to the news.
"Dad, don't tell me you are giving up already? As for me I am not giving up dad, I will keep trying until I get what I want." Juliet said with tears in her eyes.
"I want what is best for, it is left for you to either sink or swim as I have given it a thought and I would not be happy to watch you sink, you are getting old and time is not on your side. We have been trying to get you into law school for the past 5 years, this is just temporary, probably after your skill you can continue pursuing your dream." Mr John said as he tapped her on the shoulder.
"The word sinking is not for me but I will only swim in the direction I want and not in the direction you want me to." Juliet said as she leaves the sitting room.
Her father had given up on her dream of becoming a lawyer, and now wants her to learn a skill and if her biggest supporter is already starting to doubt then what will become of her? She has a lot to worry about because if her father withdraws his support for her dreams there is no way it is going to happen as she has no other supporter and lost her mother at a very young age.
"Guess what dad wanted us to talk about." Juliet said to her brother Joseph.
"Must be about you getting into law school, we have been on this topic for ages, just get into law school already it feels like everything is about you already." Joseph responded
"Dad wants me to give up going to law school, he wants me to go get a skill and now I wish mom was alive." Juliet said as she fall into the bed.
"You have come a long way to back out now and the entrance exams for this year is coming up in two weeks, he should let you take this one and if things don't work out I think I will be team daddy too." Joseph said as he continued folding his clothes.
"I will take this one and I know it is going to work out, I am not giving up." Juliet said as she left his room for hers.
Seeing that her support system was starting to get weak, she knew the upcoming entrance exams would determine a lot of things and she decided to give it her all. She took the exams and her name made it to the final list and her joy knew no bounds on seeing her name on the list.
"I spent years waiting and dreaming about this day, I had two options sink or swim but I chose to keep swimming instead of giving up and sink into depression. Today is the happiest day of my life, I wish mom was alive." Juliet said as she showed her dad the list.
Sometimes, we go through stuff and we do not understand why it had to usso we carry a baggage.
Juliette is strong and brave.
Well done.
