The abandoned mansion.

Emily is a young woman who loves to explore and only wants to be involved in adventurous journeys and places; if it is not adventurous, then she does not find it interesting. Her love for adventures has put her in a lot of danger countless times, but "being face to face with death is the fun of every adventure." Emily will always say after every near-death experience on her adventures as she prepares to embark on another one.

Sometimes she has her friends come with her on some of her adventures, while sometimes experiences from the last one leave them turning her down, but that does not stop her from embarking on any journey she has set her mind to embark on. For Emily, an adventure is an adventure; it does not matter if she does it alone or with people, as all that matters to her is the experience and the memory.

One evening Emily was on her way back from work when she sighted a mansion in the woods; it had been there all along, but she just did not notice it until that evening. She got home and did a background check; she discovered the mansion had been abandoned for over three decades since it is believed to be haunted, and no one has gone in for the past three decades, but Emily's curiosity was triggered by the fact that no one had gone into the mansion in years, and she decided to ask her friends to tag along as they explored the haunted and abandoned mansion.

"Hey guys, I have something that will interest you guys." Emily said to her friends

"As long as we don't have to endanger our lives, then I might be interested." Ruth responded.

"Everything of interest for Emily involves danger, so just prepare for it already." Samantha said.

"Well, this will interest you all. Do you know there is an abandoned mansion on the outskirts of town? It looked so big from afar now. Imagine what it will look like on the inside." Emily said with a big smile on her face.

"I have heard of an abandoned mansion in this town, but I have never seen it, and not to forget, I heard it was haunted too." Ruth said giving Emily a look to confirm if she knew that and still wanted to try what she had in mind.

"Yeah, yeah, I did a background check, but I read you will only get haunted at night, so if we go during the day, then there is nothing to be scared of." Emily responded as she winked.

"Hmmm, I really don't like this, but it has been long since we last followed you on any adventure; let's go on this one." Ruth said, looking at Samantha.

"Okay, okay, before you guys call me the boring one." Samantha responded with a tone.

"Tomorrow at 1 pm," Emily said as they left the coffee shop.

Emily went home and got her gear ready; her camera was one thing she never left behind when going on an adventure, and that has helped capture every moment. She could not wait for another day to explore the abandoned mansion as well as discover its secrets as to why it was abandoned and believed to be haunted. As planned, they all arrived at the meeting point, and Emily took the lead, leading them right to the entrance of the mansion.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Samantha, who was reluctant to enter into the mansion, asked

"Common, Sam, we are here already." Emily said as she stepped into the mansion with the creaking floorboards beneath her feet echoing down the halls of the mansion.

Samantha was still standing at the entrance and thinking if she really wanted to be part of such or not when Ruth called out, "Guys, come look at this." Samantha and Emily rushed to where she was following the sound of her voice, and indeed it was worth it as they beheld the beauty of a lot of artifacts all covered in dust, cobwebs, and the thick bushes growing in the middle of the mansion.

Their next discovery is what made their blood run cold.

While Emily was busy taking photos of the artifacts they just discovered, they all noticed a series of photographs and paintings dated decades ago were pinned to the wall. The photograph depicted the family that owned the mansion, but they noticed something strange: all the paintings were still fresh and not in any way dry, more like they just came out of the artist's shop.

"What is going on here?" Samantha whispered with a trembling voice as she took a few steps backward.

"I really don't know, but I think we should get out of here." Emily said as she looked around for a quick exit.

As they turned to leave, a voice from the walls whispered, "Get out while you still can."

Suddenly the windows and doors of the mansion were opening and closing which was caused by a strong wind, Samantha and Ruth, who are not used to such things, were paralyzed by the sight of this.

"Run, run." Emily said, grabbing her friends by the hand.

They did not stop until they were in the safety of their car, and they drove away from the mansion as fast as they could. Something made their fear grow even stronger, sending chills down their spine. When they looked back, they saw a figure standing by the window with glowing eyes watching them drive away.
