"Hey Sam, this face can actually chase clients away, and funny how you are the first person they get to see entering this building. What's with the long face?" Henry asked on seeing his friend's long, gloomy, and sad face.
"hmhmmm." Samuel sighed. "I am fine; nothing I cannot handle." Samuel added
Samuel is a famous gambler; everyone in the office knows him for that, which is why his finances have shown little to no growth. Even with his good-paying job, he is always broke. He has been a gambler since high school, and now it feels like there is no stopping that. He always aims to gamble to enable him to win and pay off his debts, but instead it ropes him into more debts. Gambling has landed him in trouble countless times, but he seems not to learn from it.
There were times in high school when he used his school fee to gamble, and his parents had to pay again, and along the line they had to start paying his school fee themselves to avoid him using the money to gamble again. It is a habit that has caused him more harm than good, but he has no control over it.
Now as an adult his gambling addiction has put him in debts and those he owes money are now threatening to take away the few properties he owns as well as threatening to come to the company he works to file a complaint and doing that means his salary might be used to pay off his debt and that means he would go months without receiving any pay, now Samuel is worried about how to resolve the issue without having it escalate.
"I have known you for quite sometime now; something is wrong. You know you can always talk to me." Henry said as he sat down on Samuel's table and showed Samuel signs that he could actually cast his burden on him.
"I am ashamed of myself, bro; sometimes I feel like I don't learn from my past mistakes, but they say old habits die hard." Samuel said with tears rolling down his eyes.
"Don't tell me you still gamble. After all these years, you still indulge in such a thing?" Henry asked, making a face.
"I am indebted to a lot of people, bro, and if they come here to file a complaint, it will affect my record, and I might go months without receiving any pay, and the thought of that scares me." Samuel said as he buried his face in his hands.
Gambling has been a major problem for Samuel, and he has actually tried all he could to stop it, but all efforts to end his gambling addiction seemed futile, and now gambling has put him between two hard walls, and he is looking for a way out.
"Well, indeed old habits die hard, but they do die if you try harder. How about instead of gambling more with the hope of winning and paying off your debt, you use the money and start paying off your debts bit by bit?" Henry suggested.
"This is a very good idea; that way I will not have anyone come to the company to complain, and I will still have my salary, though some percentage of it for myself and for my upkeep instead of losing it all. You are a genius." Samuel said with a big smile.
"You know it is going to be a long time; it will keep you away from gambling as well, and in the process you might be able to quit gambling too and be free from it forever." Henry said
"I am willing to embark on this journey and see what comes out of it. I have suffered from gambling addiction all my life, and if this is a way out, I am willing to take my chances." Samuel said with so much determination.
Gambling is really bad.
I have a friend who's husband gambled with their house rent. I just wish they could think more and do better.
That is the height of it, once a gambler start using important money to gamble just know it has gotten out of control..
Gambling ain't really a good thing and it's really hard to get rid of bad old habits but yes if we want to do then we can, and I'm happy Samuel find a way for stay out of it
Old habits die hard but if we try harder, we can definitely defeat it.
Thanks for stopping by.
Gambling is addicting and causes more harm than good. I know someone who gambles away every penny that he gets(even the money that isn't his), all with the believe that he woild hit millions.
Some people believe us like a source of income but they are very wrong, gambling can be draining both emotionally, mentally and financially.
