I seemed to be stocked with heavy traffic on my way to work, so I decided to alight from the public bus and walk a little to a certain point on the road to get a motorcycle that would take me to work at a cheaper price. While trekking down the road, I looked at my back along the road and saw a car accelerating in my direction.
Then the car parked at my back and horn. I was not sure if I was the one being called on. I could not wait and instead proceeded forward. The morning was just too frequent, showing a sign of someone in the car wanting to see me. I stopped to see who was in the car. Then a man came down from the car and called my name. All of a sudden,
“Debby”
I looked at the person tightly and closely. It was my old friend from school. I was so happy to see him. We hugged each other with excitement on our faces.
”Why are you trekking? And where are you heading? He asked.
“Never mind, I would rather not be late for work; that is why I want to leg it a little bit forward until I get a cab," I said with a smile on my face.
“Please, come in, let me take you down," he said. I was so happy to jump in his car.
After I alighted from his car, we exchanged contacts with each other. He left. We only discussed a little and nothing much, as I'm not a fan of too many discussions.
Kola has been an excellent friend of mine since I was in school. He was my reading buddy in school. He has been my drive to read my books. During our final year in school, our friendship led to a relationship that made us fall in love with one another, but somehow, we had a minor fight that made us lose one another.
While I was at work during my short break, I somehow flashed back to the old days. I began to remember how we’d been together in school—the way we behaved with each other and loved each other. I also remembered that the breakup was just a minor argument about seeing him with another girl. Likewise, I decided to give him a call, but then something was rejected to put the call through to him. Not only that, but I did not have the courage, but later thought again about how we praise each other. This made me smile, and I gave him a call.
He picked up the call and said, “I was about to call you before seeing your call. Will you be available for dinner this afternoon?
“Yes.” I was so sharp to answer him.
We mutually agreed to have dinner after work that day at a nearby restaurant.
When we met at the dinner, I was just staring at him because he was more handsome than back then in school. I felt like pecking him, but I decided to hold myself by keeping my integrity.
We had lengthy talks that took us back to our formal friendship. We had a toast as we poured ourselves wine. I would have loved it if the toast was a reunion, but now it was just a toast without meaning. I felt unhappy with him, as he could not say a word related to coming together.
He invited me to his house, and I could not hesitate to visit him. When I knocked at his door, it was a strange, young-looking guy who opened the door. I was moved by his handsomeness, but then Kola was my supposed man.
“Where is Kola?” I asked him.
“Oh, he is in the kitchen," he said.
Kola came out, and we both ate as he introduced me as just a friend to his friend. I was unhappy. I made it show in my attitude, but then I had nothing to worry about. We both chatted and played games, after which I left for my abode.
One fateful day, I went to the boutique to get myself some clothes when I bumped into Kola’s friend, Femi. He was the first to recognize me.
“How are you?” He asked.
“I'm fine, and how's Kola?” I asked him, but to my surprise, he said Kola had traveled out of the country. I was shocked, but then I had nothing to worry about, as he could not open up to me.
I exchanged contact with Femi, and he began to call me frequently. His calls began to make some suspicious moves. I truly wanted him, but Kola was my block. He invited me to an eatery. We sat and chatted. He asked me out. I was not ready to give him a reply, but then he made a statement that made me change of mind. “Kola would not be coming home soon, and besides, he left with his girlfriend. I accepted his proposal, and we began a relationship. Our relationship was just six months old when he came with an engagement ring to marry me. I accepted it keenly.
We both went to the eatery to have a toast. On our wedding day, his best friend was called out to give a toast, although he brought Kate to the party and was unable to see me in total. As his name was called, I was shocked to hear Kola's name. “Did Kola come home just because of our wedding?” I asked myself.
He came out and poured himself a drink to toast. My face was still covered. He ordered Femi to open my face, which he did. Surprisingly, our eyes met each other, which made the glass of wine slip off his hands. Although he had no words to say, he could not speak his mind to me before traveling outside the country. He called Femi and asked him, “Why did you do this to me?”
“But you told me you were not ready for her, and she's not your type any longer, as old things have passed away. That old thing was new to me, and then I decided to go for it. Besides, you have a girlfriend with whom you traveled together," Femi poured his mind into Kola.
Kola dropped his head down and said, “Well, I gave up, you won, and congratulations.”.

This actually sounds like a complex and emotional situation. It's important to consider what you truly want and what will make you happy in the long run.
The traffic alone in Nigeria is something else, you wait in traffic for up to an hour
