Gorgeous! I'm so happy for Andros, and the greater world around his compound. Reminds me of Anthem, and a book I just read The Book Censor's Library.

Thank you, @owasco! I'm not a Rand fan... her brutal (in my view) individualism turns me off. Which is funny, because I am certainly an individual. It was facing the imposition of a new rule that inspired this, I think. I chafe against rules, except the necessary ones (which are they😂).
Thanks very much for reading, and appreciating. I'll have to check out The Book Censor's Library...sounds like something Borges might write.
I just finished it last night. So good!!!! Mind bending for sure. Loved it! I might go on a binge of that author's books, if my hillbilly library carries any more. It has been translated from the Arabic.
I read Rand. There is much value in her work, along with much that is disagreeable to today's moral beliefs. I believe it was Anthem in which an individual escapes his prison-like community and finds the outside world very beautiful. Could have been Atlas. Her works do tend to blend together in my memory.
But your story is really simple, and beautiful in a way that only simple stories can be. I love it.
