Miguel, a nine-year-old boy, began spending more time than usual in the room of his 80-year-old grandmother, who was bedridden. In the last two weeks her body no longer wanted to move.

She had stopped getting up, not even to sit in her rocking chair to knit. She ate very little. Her daughters did everything they could to keep her comfortable and those who did not live with her visited her frequently.

But Grandma Carmen was not really uncomfortable, she didn't feel any pain, only that her mind and body were tired of living.

And so for several nights, little Miguel would say to his mother before going to sleep.

"Mommy, I'm going to Grandma's room to ask her blessing and to accompany her until she falls asleep".

His mother hugged him and told him.

"You are a very sweet boy, it's good that you accompany Grandma, but don't be too late because tomorrow you have to get up early to go to school."

Night after night while grandma was losing her vital energy, the one that kept her tied to the bed and to this world, while she talked to her grandson she was preparing him for the coming goodbye.

"My prince", as she had been telling him since she saw him the day he was born, when he came home from the clinic, wrapped in a blue blanket that she had knitted for him. "I'm going on a trip".

The boy who was lying next to his grandmother opened his honey-colored eyes that were already closing, sat up and turned his head to see her better.

"Where are you going, Grandma?"

"To a place far away from here. A beautiful planet where the clouds are yellow, the sea is pink, the sand is blue. And the people and animals shine brightly. And on the trees there are fruits that hang like Christmas ornaments. You can eat them, and they are the juiciest and sweetest. And when you walk barefoot on the damp earth, beautiful, fragrant flower stalks sprout. And there is also a stream whose crystalline waters reach the pink sea".

"How do you know that, grandmother?"

"Because I have visited it in my dreams".

"And how are you going to get there? Are you going on a rocket?"

A smile appeared on Grandma's face. "No, my dear grandson, I won't need a rocket."

"And then how are you going to get that far."

"It will be a very fast trip in a beam of light and I will not take my body with me, so don't be afraid if she doesn't move, open her eyes or breathe. If this happens, I am already gone".

That night, Miguel went to sleep thinking about the trip his grandmother was going to make and whether it would be possible for him to go too. He would have to ask her tomorrow. His mother woke him up early to go to school. While he was eating breakfast, he saw that he was crying.

"Mommy, what's wrong, why are you crying?"

"It's nothing, son, come on! Hurry up! You're going to be late for school."

When he returned to the house, there were many people, his aunts and older cousins were sitting in the living room as if waiting for something. They hugged and kissed him.

He went to the kitchen and there he saw his mom talking with his dad and his aunt Amelia.

He heard her saying

"Mom is dying"

He stood there and said in a loud voice.

"My grandmother is not dying!". And he ran to the room where she was sleeping.

"Son!, wait", his parents followed him.

He went in and approached her bed.

Grandma was already lying down, her eyes were closed and she was very pale. Her white hair was tied back in a mane that hung on the side of her head. She was wearing a white gown with lace that showed the thinness of her body.

Miguel came as close as he could to her ear.

"Grandma, don't go yet".

Grandma opened her eyes slowly and a smile lit up her face.

"I was waiting for you to say goodbye. I love you very much, my dear prince".

"I love you too, Grandma. May I accompany you to that planet you have seen in your dreams? I want to know it."

Miguel's parents, who were listening to the conversation, embraced each other.

"You will be able to know it, but your trip is still many years away. When you are ready and cross the space in a ray of light as I am going to do now, I will be waiting for you".

"Yes grandmother."

"Give me a kiss, my boy".

Miguel kissed his grandmother, she fell asleep, and her soul traveled with the speed of light to the planet of the pink sea and the yellow clouds, with the sky illuminated by fireflies of stars.

—¿Y cómo vas a llegar allá?

—Abuela, no te vayas todavia.

A story full of the sensitivity of a grandmother's relationship with her grandson. From the beginning we assume the descenlaze, but that does not detract from the reader's interest. We look for every detail written with an excellent imagination.

A reading to enjoy from beginning to end. A pleasant and careful narration.
