"Good afternoon Mr, Nosa, I am here per your request. Titu told me you sent for me", Joshua greeted Mr Nosa, an aged man in Alade village.
Mr Nosa had been living in the village for the past 30 years and no one knew any of his family because he came alone into the village according to the story told by those who were aware when he packed into the village. He is now aged that he couldn't do somethings by himself like going to the market to get foodstuffs because he can't walk for a long distance so he do send some of his neighbours especially Joshua who always act as his son.
"Thank you my dear, i wanted to get some fresh vegetables at the market. I feel like eating vegetables this evening", Mr Nosa said.
It's okay father, let me quickly go and help you to prepare it before I resume for my evening shift", Joshua said as stood up from the wooden stool he was sitting while talking with Mr Nosa.
"Wait Joshua, you didn't collect money, give me few minutes ,let me go in to get money", Mr Nosa said.
"Don't bother father, I will buy it from my purse, give me few minutes. I will be back soon, Joshua said and left.
Mr Nosa watched Joshua as he walked fast and that reminded him of how agile he was when he was a young man. He do walk a long distance in few minutes and people call him cheetah for this reason. But unfortunately he couldn't walk that much again because of old age. In no time, Joshua returned with the vegetable as he quickly helped Mr Nosa to prepare it and served it to him as he quickly rushed to his place of work where he sells evening food such as fried yam to customers.
The following day, there was a wedding ceremony beside Mr Nosa's house. One of his neighbour's daughter is getting married. Mr Nosa sat outside his home looking at all the events as people were whining and dining while celebrating with the groom and the bride. This brought back the memories of Mr Nosa when he got married to his wife Bintu. He was smiling that he couldn't noticed that Joshua was standing beside him.
"Good afternoon father, I can see you're enjoying watching the wedding ceremony. Marriage is a beautiful thing I must say", Joshua said.
"Hmmmm, my son, it is a beautiful thing with the right person but if not, a wrong step can ruin one's life", Mr Nosa said pitifully.
"You're right father, hope you've eaten or should I get you something to eat?", Joshua asked.
"I'm okay, Joshua, seeing this young couples reminded me when I got married to my wife Bintu. She was a perfect woman to me that I never let anyone talk bad about her" Mr Nosa began.
"I don't want to bring back past memories father, that's why I haven't asked you about your family since all these while", Joshua replied.
"It was a wonderful beginning my son, everything seems so perfect and one year into our marriage ,we had a son named Pius. After his birth, things drastically changed between I and my wife, she no longer perform her duties well at home and she started coming home late. I talked to her about it and she didn't pay heed to my complaints. I tried many times to talk to her about it but she never listen and that led to our separation. She left me with my son, that shattered me and that was why I came to Alade village and till date, I don't know where they are. Seeing this young couples just brought back the memories I've buried for long", Mr Nosa explained.
"I'm so speechless father but I believe one day, you will see your son again. Let's believe", Joshua consoled.
"Joshua, my son, I'm okay, thank you for being my support in old age. All I'm left with is memories but you brought light into my darkness", Mr Nosa said as he tapped him at the back.
"Father, let me rush back to the shop, I will see you later in the evening", Joshua said as he stood up to leave.
"Okay dear, take care of yourself", Mr Nosa said as he stood up and went inside and he kept hoping he sees his son again.

Mr. Nosa had a very sad experience with his wife. It's surely a memory that breaks his heart. Fortunately, he has his son to care for him in his old age. A very pleasant story to read.
Thanks for sharing your story with us.
Excellent day.
