The ruining habits

"Vincent, you have to stop drinking and smoking; it's not healthy for you", Pere said to his friend, who is obsessed with alcohol and marijuana.

"Guy, this is the best life, any guy could have. These things light up the mood and give you clear eyes", Vincent replied.

"Which one is clear eyes (what is the meaning of a clear eye)? Just reduce your intake of alcohol. I don't like seeing you in this state; I'm sure you will be clubbing this night since it's the weekend", Pere further said.

"You don't have to ask, bro; I'm surely going to the club. There will be enough to drink and smoke there with no one monitoring me like you do", Vincent happily said.

"I'm doing that for your sake. You are old enough to get married, but which responsible lady will marry an addict like you?" Pere angrily said.

"Ogbeni (mister), relax; I'm presently not thinking of settling down anytime soon. Who does marriage help (who cares about marriage)?" Vincent replied as he sipped his alcohol.

"No problem, keep it up. I pray you find a lady who will accept this rubbish from you", Pere said pointing to the alcohol bottle in front of Vincent.

"I want to rest a bit, when you are leaving, just drop a message for me on WhatsApp. I will attend to it when I'm awake", Pere further said while he headed to his room.

"Bachelor's lifestyle is so easy, why I go dey stress myself about marriage(why will I stress myself about marriage)?" Vincent said to himself as he continued drinking his alcohol.

As usual, Vincent left home in the evening and headed to the club. On Sunday, Pere insisted that Vincent follow him to church hoping he would change his ways. Reluctantly, Vincent went with Pere and was on his phone all through the service. The only time he paid attention was when the choir was ministering, and that was because he saw a lady who interested him. The next Sunday, Vincent voluntarily followed Pere to church, which was a surprise to Pere, who was asking him why he wanted to go to church. After the service, that Sunday, Vincent asked Pere to wait for him while he tried his luck with the lady in the choir who goes by the name Titi.

"Hello, sister, I am Vincent. I've been a member of the church for the past few weeks, and each time I see you, I feel something special about you", Vincent began.

"Bless you, brother Vincent; nice meeting you, and hope you enjoyed our service?" Titi replied.

"Yes sister Titi, it was a nice time in the presence of God. I would love to have your digits so that we can communicate often. That's if you don't mind", Vincent said innocently.

"Of course, that's not a problem; your phone, please," Titi said as she stretched her hand to collect Vincent's phone, which she inputted her phone number.

"I will give you a call later in the day; take good care of yourself, and thank you for your time," Vincent said with a smile as he bid Titi goodbye.

Pere, who stood under the shade looking at Vincent talking with Titi, started to move immediately. He saw Vincent coming toward him.

"I got her number; I told you it won't be that difficult," Vincent said boastfully.

"It's okay, James Bond, let's go home; I'm famished," Pere said.

Vincent continued with his alcohol and is now a good friend of Titi. During one of their conversations, Vincent asked Titi the kind of man she would love to go into a relationship with, and Titi told him he dislikes guys who drink and smoke. This got to Vincent because he liked Titi and wanted to go into a serious relationship with her. To have Titi, Vincent decided to give up his bad habits, but old habits die hard. Anytime he went out with Titi, he always tried not to drink or smoke because he had told Titi he didn't smoke or drink. Pere warns him to tell Titi the truth instead of pretending to tell her because Vincent drinks and smokes when Titi is away, but to keep Titi, he continues to lie.

The friendship between Titi and Vincent grew stronger and they become fond of each other. Their friendship begins to grow into love, and they both share beautiful memories. Soon it was Vincent's birthday. He had called Titi earlier to ask if she would be available for an outing, which she declined, but unknown to Vincent, she did surprise him with gifts later in the day. Later in the afternoon, Titi called to ask Vincent where he was and how he was celebrating his birthday because she was busy at work and wouldn't be able to see him for the celebration. A few minutes after the call, Titi arrived at Vincent's apartment with gifts. Just as Pere opened the door, Titi met Vincent sipping his alcohol with marijuana in front of him. She was shocked to the marrow as she stood still in surprise.

"Mama, you told me you are at work; what are you doing here?" Vincent asked, trying to pack the alcohol and marijuana.

"Wow! Happy birthday to you", Titi said and quickly dropped the gifts and rushed out.

Vincent followed her to apologise but Titi didn't want to hear him out. She never believes the man he is now in love with smokes and drinks. She was sad at what she saw, she boarded a motorcycle and left. Vincent tried to call her but he couldn't reach her. He dressed up and went to her house, but she wasn't at home. He became worried and decided to wait for her. After 30 minutes, as he was about to leave, Titi arrived.

"Titi please hear me out, please", Vincent said apologetically.

"For the fact that you lied, that's annoying and to crown it all, I told you I can't date a man that drinks and smokes. Oh, you were trying to hide it from me? I'm glad we haven't gone far, it's not bad. Loose my number and don't visit me again, thanks", Titi said and slammed the door behind her without listening to what Vincent had to say.

Since that day, Titi no longer picks up Vincent's calls or gives him attention as before. Due to Vincent's habits, he lost Titi which hurt him so badly. He tried quitting his drinking and smoking habits, but it was a tough one.

Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.

So bad for Vincent, bad habit can't be hidden for long. Now he has lost the love of his life Titi because of drinking and smoking...he would probably learn his lessons 😂

I hope so

Addictions can cause people to distance themselves from each other and the consumer is usually left alone with their problem. This is what happened to Vincent, who lost a great woman due to his addictions.

Excellent day.

You are so right
