The storm

"Sorry, this seat is already taken by my friend; kindly move to the next", Toby said to her colleague, who wanted to sit on the empty chair beside her.

"Hey, Tehila over here", Toby shouted as she waved continuously to get her friend's attention.

"Good morning, My baby girl, I'm so sorry for coming late; there was lots of congestion on the road, hence the slow movement of vehicles on the road", Tehila said to her friend Toby as she hugged her tightly.

"It's fine! I've been keeping the seat for you; hope you are fine?" Toby asked Tehila.

"Yes, I'm good. Have you gone through chemistry I really don't understand this subject at all. I do not know who advised me to choose the science department out of the available ones," Tehila said pathetically as she shrugged.

Toby and Tehila were best of friends; they are currently in their second year in senior secondary school, and they are preparing for their first term examination. Toby performs better in chemistry than Tehila due to her passion for the subject and because of their close relationship, Toby is always there to put Tehila through chemistry lessons during their leisure hours.

"Our exams are starting on Monday and I'm glad that we'll be writing chemistry on Thursday. I wouldn't have found it interesting if we would be starting the examination with chemistry", Tehila lamented.

"Lazy girl! You'll read and pass. It's not as difficult as you think! You are only trying to be lazy with studying.", Toby replied to her friend and both girls laughed.

Their first exam was biology, which Tehila loves so much.
On Thursday, they were to write their chemistry examination; Tehila wrote some answers on a small piece of paper so that she could copy it in the examination hall, which was unknown to Toby.

"Madam, I hope that you are prepared for this exam?" Toby asked Tehila jokingly.

"I'm surely prepared for it; I've practised the questions you gave me, so I know it won't be that difficult", Tehila replied with a cunning smile.

They entered the examination hall according to their surnames, just as they had been sitting since they began the examination. Tehila was sitting in front of Toby. The examination began and the invigilator walked around, accessing the students as usual.
Thirty minutes into the examination, Tehila secretly brought out the piece of paper on which she had written a few answers. Being careful not to get caught, she had a hard time copying from the piece of paper. The invigilator, who was standing at the back of the class, noticed Tehila's restlessness and decided to walk slowly to where she was to see what was wrong with her.
As the invigilator approaches her seat, out of fear, when she notices the invigilator around her, she quickly squeezes the paper and throws it to the back under Toby's seat. The teacher saw the paper and asked Toby to pick it up and showed it to him. Toby, being confident that she had done nothing wrong, gladly showed the paper to the invigilator, but it turned out to be Toby's worst nightmare.

The invigilator saw that the piece of paper picked up by Toby had some answers to the chemistry questions. She immediately ordered Toby to leave her seat and then explained how the paper got under her seat. Toby was confused as she had no idea how the piece of paper got to where she was sitting. She tried to explain herself, but the invigilator couldn't give her a listening ear, instead, she called another teacher who took Toby to the staff room where a disciplinary committee held a meeting about the incident. She was not allowed to complete her examination for the day. Her parents were called upon, and the situation was discussed.
In the end, she was suspended for two weeks which stopped her from writing the remainder of her examinations as the school rule was against examination malpractice.

During Toby's suspension, Tehila visited her every day, but with so much guilt in her heart. She knew that Toby was in that situation because of her own carelessness. She wished she could tell her the truth, but she was afraid their friendship would end if Toby realised that she was the one who implicated her during their examination.

After Toby's suspension was over, she was given the privilege to write the ones she missed except chemistry. When their results were released, she scored lower marks in chemistry because she couldn't finish the examination due to the incident. Tehila felt bad about this and decided to open up to Toby because her conscience was not at peace for what she had done.

"Tehila, I'm surprised you visited on Sunday; I hope you are fine, or are you sick? You look a bit down", Toby asked her friend out of concern.

"I'm sorry, Toby, I didn't mean to hurt you. I was just scared at that moment, and I needed to do something to save myself; I never knew the invigilator would see the paper", Tehila started crying.

"Wait! Tehila, you mean you were the one who threw the piece of paper under my seat? Why would you think of luring into examination malpractice in the first place? I warned you to prepare the other day and besides, I helped you by providing some guides for the exam. Why would you do something so terrible to me?", Toby asked angrily.

"I have been feeling so much guilt inside of me, I just had to tell you. I'm sorry girl, it wasn't Intentional. Please forgive me. I just want to have peace of mind", Tehila apologised.

"I'm so mad at you, but it's fine; I will only forgive you on one condition, and that's if you promise me never to make an attempt nor cheat in an examination again. Anytime you break your promise, that will be the end of our friendship", Toby told Tehila, who gladly agreed because she didn't want to lose her best friend. The two girls reunited and continued their friendship.

Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.

Glad that Toby forgave tehila that's what true friendship means...

It's nice to know that forgiveness is a huge part of friendship. I'm glad the story ended well.

Without forgiveness some friendship won't thrive.
